Character Levelling
Character levelling is a system meant to encourage and reward exploration of the world and its inhabitants. While there are general leveling requirements which apply to all, there are also race-specific requirements that confer their own unique rewards.

IMPORTANT: The point of the levelling system is to encourage activity, to give your characters goals to work towards and to place them in situations they may not normally find themselves. The point of this system is not to satisfy as many requirements in as short a time as possible. To this end, while threads can often satisfy multiple requirements, individual actions cannot.

For example, as an attuned you might create a new thread during one of the seasonal events in a board that you have never been in before, with a character you have not met. This would satisfy the 1. Explore a New Board requirement and 2. Meet a new race requirement. However, as you are in your animal shift, it could also satisfy the 'complete a stage of a seasonal event in your animal shift' requirement, OR 'complete a thread entirely in your animal shift' requirement, but not both.

The general rule is that your racial requirements should each take their own thread to satisfy. If you ever have questions, please post in the help-desk!

NOTES

  • Characters under the age of 16 cannot level. They begin and remain at level 0 until they reach age 16, at which point all previous threads can be considered towards level requirements.
  • SHRINES: You cannot 'explore' shrines; they do not count towards levelling requirements. Visiting a shrine should exclusively be for the purpose of praying to gods. Your character does not need to be the one praying at a shrine, so long as a prayer is made by someone in the thread.
  • Some boards are custom-made as the result of rewards or IC actions and do not count towards exploration levelling requirements. To see what boards count, click on the 'exploration' tab on your character's profile
  • MINI EVENTS: For Mini Events to be counted for levelling, your character must have posted at least 3 times.
  • SITE WIDE EVENTS (SWEs): Participation must be done IC (OOC threads/posts do not count). For Site Wide Events to be counted for levelling, your character must have posted at least 3 times.
  • Threads written with your own characters may count towards each character’s overall post count, but do not satisfy any other levelling requirements (unless approved by an admin).
  • You may not skip all/parts of a level after level 10.
  • Skipping a levelling requirement is not the same as fulfilling it. For example, if you skip "complete 2 PQs (2 in total)" the later requirement of "complete 2 PQs (4 in total)" must be completed in full (i.e., all 4, because you've only skipped the earlier ones, not fulfilled them).
  • If a levelling requirement is impossible to complete because of factors outside your control (i.e., "Thread with 3 of the merfolk" but there are only 2 who are active) you can have someone use the NPC account to help you fulfill the requirement.

    • Please list what flora or fauna you've encountered in each thread, and remember they need to be unique flora/fauna (i.e., you can't encounter the same thing multiple times).
