Past experiences amongst Metacarpal Island, though brief and hardly indulgent, had certainly left an ominous pulse in the back of the Honeybee’s mind. Not so much that she hesitated or dreaded coming, because carnivorous plants and bones clustered within their sanction weren’t going to be the death of her, but enough that she didn’t want to linger for too long.

Or else she’d, as most knew and understood, would be tempted to set it all ablaze.

“Get in and get out?” She grumbled to Jack over her shoulder, before stooping along gnarled roots at her feet, picking at smaller portions of pale bone found in the leaf litter. Fangorn equally growled, his vines turning over some stalks and greenery, while Sila flew overhead, keeping an eye on the proceedings and surroundings.

"Get in and get out," Jack confirms, casting a sharp eye across the beach and the littered bones undoubtedly ripe for the taking. He doesn't make it a habit to come to the carnivorous island either, and he swears he can see a few crimson buds turn towards them as if acknowledging the presence of new prey in the area, the captain wrinkling his nose and returning his focus to the pale sands.

Inhaling deep breath and shoving his hands in his pockets, he conjures his air magic to blow across the beach before them in a powerful gale; enough to shift the soft grains to reveal a good amount of skeletal remains buried for gods know how long beneath the hot sun. "At least this should be an easy task," he says, given what's available.

It wasn’t like Jack to also be slightly wary; at least for as long as the Honeybee had known him – which probably justified the uneasy disposition across the outset. The whipping of air was enough to stir multitudes of bones – and to see the wake of the earth littered with them made her nose wrinkle. “Lovely place,” came with a dry, caustic tone, while her gaze surveyed the expanse with a long, withering sigh. Fangorn slapped at a plant advancing near him, and Melita went for the smaller portions nearby, intending to get as many as they could and then vacating before any other vegetation began to threaten them with a not-so-good time.

Crouching again and placing them within her palm, she recognized an assortment of bones that undoubtedly once belonged to hands. “You think it’s only the plants doin’ this shit or like…,” she waved in the general direction if the isle itself; as if something far more devious and conniving lived within its wake.

"Ain't it? Surprised no one's suggested buildin' a resort here," Jack drawls his agreement, though the sharp smirk on his face suggests that they could always construct housing and offer it to visitors to the region that they don't particularly like. And if said visitors happen to find themselves permanent residents of the island? So be it.

Stepping forward and crouching in the sand to collect some bones of his own, the captain removes a small burlap bag from his back pocket, holding it out for Melita to deposit her own findings. At the suspiciously hand-shaped remains, his brow furrows. "I dunno," he says honestly. "I haven't heard any stories about monsters livin' here - that shit tends to spread like wildfire."

That doesn't mean the danger necessarily has to live there, though. "I can see some people bringin' folks out here to get rid of 'em." To murder or to just bury bodies. Who would know the difference with the plants doing their thing?

Thanks to that lovely comment, Melita’s mind had a warped image of some moronic resort owner, building right upon the sand, and then the skewed notions of monsters coming out of the woodwork to eat incoming tourists. Which, let’s be honest, was kinda funny.

Trying to snort down her laughter, she ended up snagging at more bones instead, sighing as more lingered nearby – longer, maybe from arms ages ago. “Yeah, fair, I guess. And most seem to come right up on the coast anyway,” gesturing back towards Torchline at large. “Too bad we couldn’t lure the FaMiLy out here. Maybe the plants would consume them,” instead of all the infestations.

Showing off her plethora of bones towards the Captain, she tilted her head. “Think this is enough?”

Allowing himself a small smile at the chaos that inevitably trundles to life in Melita's thoughts - alas, he can't share openly in her humour - Jack straightens up once he's happy with his collection of bones, brushing the sand from the leg of his pants. "Mm, there's somethin' about that shore that monsters do seem to love," he agrees with a wrinkle of his nose. If they could kindly stop it, though, that'd be grand.

As for the Family? He cringes. "You say that, but they might just turn the plants into more of those void things." And what's worse than a carnivorous plant out to chew off your leg? A purple one.

"Mm? I'd say so. I got enough here, I reckon." Giving the bag a shake (it clonks about with the hollow sound of bones), he nods back towards the main islands. "Shall we fuck off outta here?" Between Mel's running-on-water anklet and Jack's mastery over the element, a rowboat hasn't been necessary, and they can flee whenever they like.

At least with the shoreline expeditions via monster rampages, the area was relatively covered – by Torchline citizens, shields, and all that good shit. The Honeybee would always be amongst and amidst the first to race off defending her home, even if the demigod impact had curated some levels of fortitude and endurance. Eventually she’d be back up to her old standards.

“Okay fine, I’ll give you that,” as she bundled her assortment of bones into her bag as well. It made her wrinkle her nose again, at the Starfall components hastening towards them over and over – one could always hope they wouldn’t be making an impact any longer based on the cleansing, but hahaha, wouldn’t they be fuckin’ wrong soon enough. “Yeah, let’s fuck off,” she uttered with much more delight, and they’re racing across the waves in various components could be its own chaotic spree.
