Don't know when and I don't know why
One day you wake up and you're living a lie
It wasn't real. It couldn't be real.

It had been days since the last broadcast, and still Sohalia couldn't wrap her mind around Flora's death. It was surreal in all the wrong ways; Soh all but lived in Flora's home, surrounded by Flora's things, left exactly where they had been the last time the young Queen had left, as though she might return at any moment. At least a few times a day, Soh still expected her friend to walk in the door, tossing her hair over her shoulder to share the latest brawl at the Hanged Man or gush about her boyfriend or share a glass of wine.

But no. That was all gone now.

And Soh didn't want to make it about herself - really, she didn't - but why did everyone she care for leave her? What was it that had her friends and family dropping like flies?

She cried. She cried a lot. She cried until her eyes were red and swollen, with no more tears left to shed. And when she was cried out, she got angry. Angry at the world, angry at the Family, angry at Flora. Another one of her dearest friends who was gone, just like that, disappeared into thin air as though she had never existed in the first place.

But she had. She had been here, in this house, in this room, only days before. Surely this was some mistake, some trick. It couldn't be real.

There was a knock on the door and Soh rose without thinking, floating across the room as if in a dream. It wouldn't be Flora. The Doubletake wouldn't have knocked to come into her own home. And maybe Soh shouldn't answer the door. She wasn't Flora, after all, and whoever it was had to be expecting Torchline's Queen, not just... whatever Soh was, these days. And even if they weren't expecting Flora... what if it was the Family, come to infiltrate Torchline? No, she certainly shouldn't open the door.

But when she did it anyway, the last person she was expecting stood at the door.

"Koa?"
Goodbye love, and goodbye pain
Went to the river, didn't come back the same
