Character of the Season
Once known as the Butcher of Whitebrim, he's now The Butcher of Dygra, stepping forward as the first created demigod of the Ancients. There is no question that Astaroth casts an intimidating silhouette. Tall, domineering and dangerous, if looks could kill you'd be dead already, but to get up close and personal with the Grounds' resident cannibal tells a much different story. Dripping with charm and clad in only the finest attire, Asta is a gentleman monster, as polite as they come and committed to his role as security for the Dusklight and those who have earned his loyalty. Be careful of that smile, though - those teeth are sharp.
Congratulations, Asta!

They'd promised one another that, come Flowerbirth, they would cut loose a little. Live a little, one might say, but gods if the rain hadn't put a dampener on that for a while. It still threatens overhead now as the sun lowers itself behind the horizon like bloody coin into a pocket, but Danta trusts that however it decides to be this evening, he and the Butcher will be able to keep themselves warm.
And it isn't just because he's asked Asta to go on campfire duty.
Danta's reasoning is two-fold, part of him too keen to go and hunt for something worth cooking for the night to stick around and get fuel and kindling, but a larger part of him really wanting to see the other man's ghoulish green fire in a larger radius. However Asta chooses to arrange things is up to him though - as a molten tiger Danta has disappeared into the undergrowth some time ago, his paws heavy but silent on the soft ground, and before long true night will have fallen.

They had promised each other to live a little. But it is made more difficult with the rain that continues to dampen everything – making his job that much more difficult when it came to finding something dry to burn. Luckily for them, however, Asta is quite familiar with trying to create fires in places that it seemed nearly impossible, and with the help of his new Wildfire magic, he’s perhaps a touch too confident that it’ll work out.
So while Danta slinks out to go and hunt, there’s an appreciative glimmer to his gaze as he watches the large feline prowl through the underbush of the trees nearby in search for something good. For Asta, his task is to collect anything that might be dry beneath the larger boughs of tree branches and limbs that he could use to create a large fire. Luckily, the jacket makes it easier to stay warm during this task, though he does spark a ball of green fire to rest in his hand to help illuminate kindling he may otherwise miss.
Returning to the little campsite they’ve claimed, Asta starts to set up little pieces of fallen branches he breaks into smaller chunks and the kindling, working to inject that green flame into it to stoke it up as both a beacon for Danta’s return as well as adding warmth and a certain dryness that he feels like he could use deep in his bones these day.

There is no sound from deep in the undergrowth immediately after Danta disappears, his search carrying him far enough away from Asta that the eerie light of his campfire will most certainly be needed for him to find his way home again. After a long few minutes, some unexpected rustling and a bit of twig snapping, the sound of the tiger's approach back is much more obvious, mostly by virtue of the way he's forced to drag something along with him.
When he emerges into the ghoulish green light it's with a small doe in his jaws, Danta chuffing a greeting and moving to drop the creature beside Asta with all the pride of housecat having caught a small bird. There's minimal blood and he hasn't even tried to tear into the deer just yet; proof, evidently, that his bloodlust is particularly under control right now.
Instead, with an affectionate rumble, he headbutts the Butcher's shoulder on his way back and circles about to properly inspect the fire.

He listens for the Maverick but hears very little from this distance – that and it likely doesn’t help to hear the slow cracks of the wood as it burns under the heat of his green ghoulish flame. The Butcher doesn’t seem to mind, though, settling in to stoke and inject more fire in as needed, only looking up encased in that vibrant green glow when his fiancé returns with quite the dinner option. The scent of blood is minimal, and truth be told, Asta is quite impressed.
“This will be lovely, darling.” He purrs to his fiancé as he’s headbutted, reaching up to run his hands along the molten stripes and fur of his shift as he passes by. His hands glow again as he injects a bit more flame into it to raise it, drying out the ground nearby further. “What a perfect dinner, as well.” He shuffles a little to reach for the doe, appreciative of the minimal marring on its pelt. “What do you think of the fire?” He asks, glancing over at the tiger with a shark-tooth grin.

Rumbling affectionately as Asta's hands glide through his fur and the molten metal of his stripes, with a flick of his tail Danta pads around to the fire and promptly flops down on his side before it. Whiskers twitching at the compliment from his lover, as he's asked about the other man's new ability he wastes no time in flumping further into the soft earth, rolling to show his belly and batting massive paws at the eerie green flames as if to show his approval.
And luckily in this form, neither fur nor stripes are capable of being burned by the wildfire, and so Danta indulges himself in a few long moments of kittenish behaviour before finally getting back to his feet, shaking himself off. Padding back around to where Butcher and doe are situated, he clearly plans to have nothing to do with the preparation or cooking of dinner, but he'll absolutely be a menacing bit of company while Asta works.

Watching with amusement and charm as his fiancé flops next to the green flame and kicks out his massive paws toward the flame, the Butcher encourages some of the fire to curve out, wrapping around each paw in an affectionate twirl. It fades away in a whisp of smoke as Asta returns his focus to the doe in question, admiring it before he reaches for his butcher’s tools.
He carves through it with expertise, skinning it first to keep the hardly marred pelt, murmuring a quiet appreciation of it before he starts to carve into the doe itself, looking up just in time for Danta to return and offer his chaotic company while he starts to separate the pieces out – sure that the Dusklight wouldn’t mind having more options for food if he and Danta didn’t devour all of it.
So it’s with quiet, one sided murmurings and conversations, that Asta separates the pieces of the doe and the pelt, cooks whatever they intend to devour and shares easily between himself and the Maverick, trying to see just what portions of the doe he can get the tiger to tear into for this lovely night out.
