Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

The swing of her staff failed to land once again, but Elizabeth wasn't particularly surprised. Her head just shook as she smiled at Evie pulling away. Eyes following the Warden, she was expecting her to lunge back in for another strike. However, instead, she stayed away, watching, waiting. But what for?
Her question was quickly answered as the ground began to shift underneath her boots, the stones disrupting from their set positions in all sorts of odd angles. Elizabeth wasn't sure how to handle the lack of balance and she found herself crouching in an attempt to stabilize. In her lower stance, she noticed the solid ground nearby. It was imperative that she regain her footing enough to make a counterattack, but she didn't trust her feet to get her there. So, with a clumsy reluctance, she dove forward into a roll, tucking her staff in close. When she finally came up, she was closer to Evie, close enough to sweep her staff out in another low strike.
i'll plant a row of daisy seeds in the space beneath each eye
It's a graceless effort, but as Elizabeth gets back to her feet and strikes again Evie is grinning wildly. Planting the end of her own staff into the ground to bear the strike, the reverberation stings against her palms and even as she pulls one away to signal a stop to the spar it still tingles. "Let's stop there," she directs, heart still pumping and adrenaline still high. Shaking her arms out, she tucks her staff into the crook of her elbow and approaches Elizabeth with a bright smile.
"You have great instincts and awareness of your body. That's an incredibly strong foundation to build on!" Reaching out a hand, she gestures with her fingers as her ginger brows lift in a silent may I? "Let me heal you and we can discuss a bit more. Do you have any questions?" As she waits for Elizabeth to decide to take her offer (which is admittedly more of a directive given Evie's lifelong career as a healer) she directs her magic through her own body to ease the sting of impressively landed blows before they can settle into debilitating aches.
so they'll remind you of your beauty when they bloom each time you cry
As Evie called for a cease in the sparring, Elizabeth rose to her feet, satisfied by the strain she was already feeling through her body. She wasn't experienced with a lot of physical labor (despite what recent events might suggest), so she knew she would be sore for quite some time, yet it was a good feeling, one she hoped to feel again soon. Nodding to the Warden, she said, "That sounds like a good idea. I don't know how much longer I could find ways around your magic. You're extremely skilled!" Giving the woman a warm smile, she leaned against her staff.
Elizabeth absorbed the compliments with a slight blush. She'd never consider herself skilled in battle, but she did pride herself on her perceptiveness. Apparently, that hadn't gone unnoticed. Instead of trying to find the words, she gave a bashful smile and offered her arm for healing. "I don't have any questions, but I would love to learn more from you. You're obviously a talented fighter and Abandoned. Maybe we could talk more in the warm palace." And with that, Elizabeth let her mind wander to exciting new topics to explore with her new acquaintance. Maybe she'd even get to spend more time with Erebos.
