I’d be the immediate forgiveness in Eurydice; Imagine being loved by me.
Whereas before Fox might have been trying to find an excuse not to be around the butcher (so sue him about it), his remark this time is borne of a desire not to be a nuisance, so as Asta advises that he will also be customising his choice, the hunter relaxes. "It's an excuse to stay inside out of the cold as well, I suppose," he adds with a soft laugh, glancing through the window to the chilly street outside. It will be snowing again soon, he can tell by the look of the sky.

Meliar draws Fox out of his reverie, the hunter glancing around to see the satchel, his pleasure and surprise evident in his soft inhale of breath. "It's perfect," he says, stepping to the counter and admiring the colour of the leather and the bright spray of embroidery in the initials. "Thank you - it's exactly what I was looking for. I'll take that along with the journal? Let me know what you need as payment and I can have it delivered in the next day or two."

It is, indeed.” The butcher agrees with that same charming grin, too sharp and too welcoming to be anything but giving mixed signals. But, as Meliar begins to distract Fox from their conversation, Astaroth trails at his heels, waiting patiently for his turn for their transaction to be completed.

Meliar seems to air nothing but pride and happiness that the satchel is well received, and with a note with handwritten care instructions (and if any adjustments and fixes need to be made, where to find him) in a card he slots into the bag along with the journal in order to keep it together for the monster hunter. “’Course! An’ if you’ve got any pelts of luxere runnin’ around, they’re my old lady’s favorite. She claims they’re softer ‘n I haven’t had a chance to go out and get some, I’d consider that good ‘n well paid.” But then, as if realizing for a second that Fox is also an Ancient, like the taller one waiting patiently behind, he seems to blanch a bit. “If y’can’t get a luxere, though, we’ll gladly take a regular ol’ deer pelt. Can always find a use for 'em.” Easy bartering, without the potential of causing this brand new customer from being caught out in the cold. He might not know much about Ancients, but he has picked that up from being amongst them here in the Grounds.

Once Fox and Meliar have finished up the details of their transaction, the butcher sidles up beside the hunter to hand the tray to the leather worker, flashing that same traditional, bright grin. “I see that you have some branding irons, would it be possible to add a phrase on the inside of this? Perhaps ‘for my darling Danta’?” His head tilts slightly, antlers swaying away from casting a shadow onto the counter. Meliar beams at this and nods, reaching for the tools as he heats them up in the mini forge set on the back wall of where the counter sits before scribing it out so he doesn’t mess it up.

Holding up a hand as Meliar seems to blanche, Fox smiles and accepts the satchel. "I have a few luxere pelts I can get for you that I have ready, not to worry. Since the bonfire was installed, it's easy enough to keep warm if the hunting doesn't do it for me. I'm just careful not to go out in a blizzard," he says. "I'll bring them by tomorrow. I'd not want your wife to go without." Inclining his head and stepping back with his purchase in hand, he gestures for Asta to go ahead.

"Thanks again for introducing me to this place," he says to the butcher. "I'm sure I'll be back - and that we'll see each other again." What might have been a threat at the beginning of their meeting with one another is instead nothing more than a polite remark, and if the hunter is surprised to hear that Danta is the name going on the valet tray, he'll save his surprise for once he has left the shop - which he does within the next moment or so, after checking he has everything together.

Meliar seems immediately relieved, nodding and letting that brimming grin return to his face. “Great! Deal’s a deal then!” The leather worker hums, before he begins to inspect the tray and to listen to the instructions. Once that’s underway, the butcher flits his attention back toward the monster hunter with his own bright smile, decidedly sharper than the leather worker’s had been. “Of course, my dear. I am sure we will cross paths again soon enough." If nothing else, at least at a wedding in the future.

He watches Fox depart, briefly before his attention flits back to Meliar as he begins to inscribe the phrase into the leather valet tray. Each letter meticulously put until the inside is branded and colored dark from the slight burn and scorch marks. A beautiful addition, if he had any say.

It’s only about ten minutes before he’s stepping out of the leather working shop with the gift in hand, wrapped in a beautiful red wrapping paper to hide its contents. All in all, the butcher seems quite pleased. It hadn’t been exactly what he was thinking of, but sometimes things just fall into place.
