Maea
Quiet footsteps barely made a sound as the palest of Dygra's children entered the cathedral. Preceeded only by the soft light emitted by her wispy companion, Maea's pace was unhurried yet purposeful, with all the grace of one who knew this room and the ritual she would soon perform. The shadows surrounding them were familiar, a comfortable cloak she had sought shelter in mmamny times in the past, and one she was eager to envelop herself in once again today.
With measured motions, the altar was cleaned and tidied. A gift of chocolate truffles flavored with raspberries and glistening with a ruby red drizzle of syrup was offered into the bowl, followed by droplets of her own heart's blood.
"Lady Dygra – Mother. I have returned, and all the tasks you set me are completed." In a rustle of silk upon velvet she knelt before her goddess' shrine, the black and ruby cloth of her robe pooling upon the polished floor.
In truth, she felt different from the last time she prayed. Despite the short timespan, much had changed - within her, around her - and though she didn't fully understand why, it was a pleasant feeling. Perhaps it was simply an added measure of confidence? She had survived the Family, had navigated catastrophic changes in a friend without loosing him, found that she could do anything she set her mind to even if it was frightening or uncomfortable... and she knew which path to take going forward.
"I am so grateful to you," she murmured, a complex smile curving her lips. "Your patience and acceptance of me - it has become the solid foundation I can steady myself upon in this changing world. I'm beginning to understand - being flexible isn't the same as being adrift, it just means belonging everywhere and adapting to the moment. Isn't that so?"
