Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

"Might is good enough for me," Danta says with a soft laugh, despite knowing that of all the people in Caido, Asta's opinion means the most to him, and he's quite certain the feeling is mutual. Grabbing the pasty to nibble on it while his fiancee finishes the bacon, he hums a laugh to himself at the other man's dramatics, he nevertheless can't disagree with the logic of it. "You do seem very much in our dark lady's image when you're prowling around and causing chaos with anyone who looks at me too long," he admits.
But that doesn't mean it's how the butcher likes to be, and so Danta throws out his Dreamdust idea without hesitation. "I don't know," he confesses, "but it feels like it might be worth a try, no?" Setting down his pastry, he turns to sneak a kiss to Asta's lips as he gazes up at him. "Flora's brother is quite good at that sort of thing, apparently. I was going to be the guinea pig for it, and then offer for you to try."

The feeling is most definitely mutual, given that Asta could care less about the vast majority of opinions out there – unless, of course, it meant actual physical harm to himself or the Maverick. So far, though, there is none of that to worry about, so who cares what people say about them? Instead, they can fall into this lush comfort of their den, of Asta’s penchant to try and leech Danta’s body heat, dramatic despite the affections provided. “It is the most entertaining part of it.” He informs him, smirking slightly as he shifts his head up to scan his lover’s face.
The way the firelight and snow reflection glints against the sharp panes of his face are a beautiful mix of chaos as he hears the suggestion, considering it a touch longer than anticipated. He typically liked to be in charge and drugs often had the opposite effect depending on the one taken, but if he was already somewhat out of his mind it likely couldn’t get that much worse, right? Lips parting briefly to respond, he’s cut off when Danta sneaks the kiss – one that Asta presses back into in a shade of last season’s fervor. It’s gentler, softer, full of gratitude rather than greed. And when he parts, he doesn’t stray far, close enough he can feel the final statements leave his lover’s lips as they brush against his own. “I am willing to give it a try, darling.” He murmurs, before he noses up to snag another one of those softer kisses, tinged with the hint of bacon.

Grinning at that - because Danta definitely considers himself entertained when Asta gets that way with the patrons of the Dusklight - the Maverick settles further into their den. He takes only a moment or so to move his plate and the tray off the bed, careful that they don't end up inevitably knocking things about when they fall into a doze, and hums his approval into Asta's kiss. "It wouldn't be a full dose," he murmurs, sneaking another kiss to the edge of his lips before promptly tugging the other man to lay down with him.
"Just enough to take the edge off," he continues, "and make you feel like you've got more of a say in your decisions. And if you still feel like you want to knock someone's teeth out, at least you know you're doing it of your own volition." Grinning, he bullies his arms around the butcher to hold him close, evidently deciding to be an active participant as a hot water bottle this morning.

He’ll absolutely blame his exhaustion for forgetting the whole micro portion of the dosage they’d just spoken over. Such that as he dives into the warm press of his fiance’s lips, there’s only the brief huff as he’s tugged down into a more comfortable position, tangling up with him and bullying some of the blankets over to trap the heat in. “It would be a lovely excuse, I suppose.” He murmurs with a small hum of a laugh, his arms winding around Danta’s middle as he’s held close, fighting the exhaustion stirring in his mind and body with a fog.
“Though I did hear that the water mage did heal after our bout last week. Truly a shame.” He muses a little sleepily but still just as quietly amused as he would be fully awake, shifting slightly so that he can drape himself over the Maverick part way, like he’s setting a detector up to be able to tell if Danta moves one inch because he knows he will not make it much longer as the fire continues to crackle and ward the cold away.

"Oh, hush. You don't need an excuse to be violent when it's a part of your job." Just an excuse to be quite as needlessly violent for an entire season, apparently. Either way, Danta grabs for one of the pillows as Asta shifts about to get properly comfortable, dragging it beneath their heads and settling with a deep sigh as everything falls into place; the heat, the blankets, the adoring weight of the other man's body half draped across him.
"Yes, well. We do have a healing fountain now," Danta reminds him with a small smile. If ever there was a time when Asta's adversary of the day should be relieved about getting his injuries taken care of, it's now. "You can sleep," he adds gently, as his own eyes slip shut. "The room will stay warm, even if there's a blizzard outside. I might even join you."

“I meant more as an excuse for the times I am not working.” He pauses, stifling a yawn as they shift and the softness of the pillow becomes just as comfortable of a place to rest as Danta’s shoulder. “Though, I suppose, I am still your body guard, no?” He lets the soft chuckle leave him, exhaled softly across his skin as he nestles in.
With the mention of the healing fountain, he’s quietly grateful for the fact his glamour is up, his tail otherwise would have flicked back and forth with playful annoyance. He’s a fan of the fountain, don’t get him wrong, but selfishly just for their benefit and not exactly the ones that had came to the Dusklight to stir trouble.
Either way, the permission to sleep is not needed, but welcome nonetheless as he squeezes Danta in a slight hug. “You should join m-.” He manages to get out before the butcher, full of toast, bacon, and tea, passes out into a soft edged snore.
