"Kia, have you seen the ledger with all the... y'know, the important shit in it?" The ledger that records how they have been utilising the Hollowed Grounds' time each season, Danta means, and although he's digging around in the right place (i.e. one of the bookshelves), he's actually recently used said ledger to stop his desk chair wobbling. So he really has no hope in finding it unless he starts crawling around his office floor, where he'll find it wedged under one of the chair legs looking very sorry for itself.

For now, alas, he continues to disorganise files, correspondence and other boring materials in search of it, scowling as if he might come across it by grumpiness alone. "I was thinking since we got the healing fountain, maybe we work on some regional upgrades this season? Keep people sweet, especially while it's so fucking cold." Speaking of which, Danta has to step back to push up the sleeves of his dark green sweater, freeing his hands properly again to keep having a good rummage.

It’s a cross between quiet horror and already mapping out how to reorganize everything Danta is currently disorganizing. She knows the ledger he’s talking about, but she also knows it hasn’t been up there for at least a couple of weeks. She also, also knows that she feels like she’s seen it recently. “Uhhh,” she begins, flitting through the room as well on her own search, checking his desk and the drawers that sit on the sides of it, to even the inner portion where things had a tendency of falling down (she’s found a multitude of frogs and foxes among the mix months before).

“I like the idea of upgrading.” She murmurs, having already thought about it before Danta had mentioned it. They could use some extra bolstering maintenance for the rooftops and roads, at least. Especially with the snow hitting the bone bridges so hard this year.

Ah, but then she gasps, shoving the chair over a little forcefully to where it topples and clatters, and if Danta looks over the first thing he’d see is not Kiada’s head popping up from behind the desk, but a hand with dark painted nails hoisting the ledger like it was a trophy – even if the cover has a strange circular imprint from the chair itself. “Found it! I’ll, uh, get you a new chair.” She says as she starts to rise, shooting a fanged grin over at the Theocrat from across the desk.

"Great minds think alike," Danta chirps, pleased as always to find that they are on the same page. If only that could help to recover their missing ledger, Danta about to reach for something heavy and likely to hurt when he inevitably pulls it atop his head when Kia gasps and he pauses, turning to glance over his shoulder. He's just in time to see her thrust the ledger aloft, his eyes lighting up with the sudden recollection.

"That's where I put it," he says with a snap of his fingers, already waving away the prospect of getting another chair. "Ah, don't worry about that. I was thinking of replacing it with one of those giant yoga balls? I feel like it'll really freak Asta out if he looks into my office from his to see me bouncing." Which, naturally, is exactly why Danta wants to do it.

Approaching the desk, he rummages around and grabs a pen ready to jot down their decision for the season, trusting Kiada to be able to find the right page.

Laughing lightly as she starts to rise from where she’d toppled the small pile of books and ledgers that had kept Danta’s chair even and not lopsided, she looks over at him as she sets the book down and begins to finger through it to find the correct page. A chime of a laugh leaves her to hear Danta’s idea instead of getting a new chair and as she spins the book around so he can write down the decision, she shoots him a fanged grin.

“Oh my gods he’d lose it.” She snickers, quietly pleased with the thought of it before a realization occurs and she nearly seems to perk up. “You’ve got to tell me when you’re going to do it. I want to see his face.” It’d give her a great story to tell Fox back home if it went exactly how she’s imagining it.

"I wouldn't keep you out of the loop for such important work," Danta says with all the gravity of a serious regional discussion, as if his slow bounce on a yoga ball in plain view of Asta's open door is paramount to the betterment of the Hollowed Grounds. Which it is, if your names happen to be Danta and Kiada.

Glancing at the page as Kia turns the book and sets it before him, it takes the Maverick a couple of goes to find the right season and year, but he soon writes down their decision with a flourish. His handwriting, to Danta's credit, is elegant to look at; one just has to overlook the fact that he's written REEJUNAL UPGRAYD in a hurry to ensure they don't forget.

"There," he announces, snapping the book shut again. "Shall I do you a kindness and not touch any of those shelves for the rest of the afternoon?"

“I was hoping you’d say that.” Kiada chimes, playful and honestly a fair amount conniving as she imagines the panic that Butcher might have – given everything she knows about him. Amusement flickers in her face at the thought, glancing over the book as Danta flips through the pages and finds the one with the season and year for what they intend to do, and while the scrawl of his handwriting is beautiful, the misspelling of the words is charming at the end of the day.

She’ll fix it with a little underlining explanation later, but for now with the book snapped shut and the plans made for the day, she steps around the side of the desk toward the wall of books and scans them. “That’d be the best gift, how’d you know?” She asks, shooting a grin over her shoulder at him as she settles in to start reorganizing the books again so that the ledger would be easier to be found next time they need to.
