Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

Noah's hand throbbed some as his knuckles swelled, but it did not stop him. Blockages came and the woman danced off again like a fairy. He continued in his place, a beacon of defiance and strength like the Fangs were against the tundra. She circled him and he followed her as best as he could, though the footing and his bulk kept him from truly matching her.
The swipe came quickly, and in the defiance he continued to display, Noah stepped into her attack. He thrust his spear forward and up sharply, going across his body. He put a great thrust of his weight behind the attack, aiming to swoop beneath her staff enough that when he thrust up his bulk would toss her back and away from him.

Her obvious attempt at being a general nuisance seemed to work – and she grinned as he thrust a little harder with those serrated, sharpened edges. It served its purpose in her backing off, sidestepping along into the water with her feral smile, bobbing her head in some notion of his expertise in that manner. The Honeybee could acknowledge a good show. She could easily be a harassing little gnat; or unleash seditious, treacherous brands of her own accord.
For now though, back to other strategies.
Another leap and another bound, efficiently sweeping downwards this time instead, striving to sweep the staff towards his knees.
to be lit up from within, vein by vein to be the sun
The Oerwoud reverberated with another crack of spear against staff, and Melita fluttered away from him much like her title would allude. He let her continue to be the dancer between them, while he stayed the stone. She came in again, swinging a swift cut for his legs. Repeating the same block as he did before, Noah immediately slammed the butt end of his spear into the ground and kept her from smarting his leg or pulling his own weight out from beneath him.
The vibrations ran all the way up the shaft and made his swollen hand sting, and Noah took a step back, lifting his spear to follow. He caught the dead waterhorse out of the corner of his eye, but readily turned his attentions back to Melita. "You sure are fast," Noah said, a small smile breaking the features of his face that had been carved deeply with concentration, "I had to work hard to keep up with you." He reached his uninjured hand out and offered it to her, thanking her for her time.
He didn't forget the waterhorse, though, and added that to his growing list of dead fauna. Would Lena know anything about this?
