While they had previously avoided the waters around Starfall like the plague they had so foolishly believed them to believe, Kaiden was eagerly swimming towards them this morning. The void ghost whale had been so gentle, even letting the mer nap against one of their ribs. From what the mer knew, no one had gone beneath the island and explored its wonders. It was such a shame. Did the creatures look out forlorn, confused as to why they were being excluded from Caido? That wouldn't do.

Kaiden approached, enjoying the rocking of the water from the churning storms. They felt no fear, only anticipation as their curiosity and newfound confidence pushed them forward. Upon reaching the shores of the island, they took a peek out, electing to see what they could above the water before diving down to explore the depths below.

As Kaiden dove down they were surprised by how deep the island sank into the water. They couldn't recall ever seeing one like this before. They swam closer, placing a hand on the submerged rock and earth. It felt like a normal island, but it was undeniably an oddly shaped one.

With a determined look, the mershark twisted and dove deeper, wanting to know more about their friends' home. There appeared to be caverns carved in the lower portions of the island. Swimming up to one, the mer peeked their head in but they couldn't see the other side. The cavern twisted further into the island, beyond their line of sight. Kaiden considered diving in, but it was almost dinnertime, and their stomach would always be the priority. They'd just come back later and explore the cavern.
