Alys launched her rock towards Iskra, who attempted to defend with a burst of fire; instead of burning the projectile or altering its trajectory, the flames seemed only to speed its course. The stone flew through the air to thump into her opponent’s chest. Alys grinned at her success, but in so doing, she didn’t realize that the fire had continued to move. It wasn’t until flames licked at her shins that she jumped back, narrowly avoiding catching on fire.
”Well, that would have been unfortunate,” she laughed, eyeing Iskra with respect. The one thing she’d learned from each of her encounters of late was that she failed to multitask well. Dodging, for example, would do her a lot more good if she could combine it with some kind of retaliatory action, or vice versa. Something to work on going forward, to be sure.
”Want to go again?” she asked. ”Or are you good for now?”
