Liam
I've seen faces I may never see again
I've been places I never could have dreamt
I've been places I never could have dreamt
It wasn't like Liam to wander, much less into a poisonous jungle, and yet here he was, doing just that.
The Greatwood was a wonderful place to live, particularly with Maea by his side - but he'd also lived there for years now, rarely venturing beyond its borders to the point that he'd had no idea what was going on in the rest of the world. It was a mistake that he was not keen to repeat.
Of course, if he'd wanted to find information, he supposed he could have chosen any of the civilized regions. Not... here. So why was he here? It certainly wasn't for the company. No, he'd seen no one for miles as he trekked carefully through Suvahasi, alert for any sign of danger. Even in peaceful times such as these, one could never be too careful, after all.
If he really sat down and thought about it (and he probably should), he might find the answer within himself to be that he simply couldn't sit still. Ever since Maea had cured him of his infection, he'd been on edge. Grateful, of course, and relieved - but furious at himself for having been so weak as to be infected in the first place. He'd become almost obsessed with becoming stronger, and he wouldn't be able to do that in the Greatwood. Not entirely, anyway.
So he wandered, seeking... something dangerous, maybe. Something to prove himself against. He wasn't really sure, and he wasn't exactly keen to do a deep dive into his feelings just now. Instead, he walked, and he watched, and he listened - and above all, he trained. On the surface, that was what he was looking for: a place to train that would challenge him. But so far, everything he'd seen in Suvahasi had been too close, too cramped, too poisonous.
But he was nothing if not patient. He would keep hunting until he found what he was looking for. And then, when he was satisfied, he would go home to his lover and try to forgive and forget.
