Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

It hadn’t been long since he’d seen Safrin – though that had been a strictly Halovian request, and on this interval, he was amidst the shrine to ensure his shield was improved upon. He’d done as instructed; completing training threads in sheer assaults or water based, extended his armor to Alys within the interim of dolphin mischief, and compared armor with Nova. There’d been some learning curves twisted amongst them all, and he was grateful for the sagacity, education, and then the impending benefit of the scaled portions becoming that much better.
Crouching at the shrine, he extended his offerings this time with a bountiful display of glass flowers; an eternal bouquet to represent her power and prestige, each constructed and created within the hues of Safrin’s cosmos – dark and light, midnight canvases and blinding blues, highlighted with spectrums of starry filaments detailed and etched on the sides. Thereafter, he placed the leviathan armor amongst them, bowing his head. “Good to see you again so soon,” he acknowledged with a small smile, in case she didn’t mind, though the apology was already working its way behind his teeth. “But I have done as you asked.”

Starlight spills across the stone, soft and gleaming, as if dusk itself has come to kneel. It pools around Deimos in gentle waves, warm and silver-gold, and then gathers into the luminous figure of Safrin, her arrival as breathtaking as a wish given shape. She stands before him wrapped in midnight and nebulae, the sweep of her gown stitched from galaxies and the infinite hush of space. Her hair glows like stardust caught on the edge of a comet’s tail, and her smile is something brighter still as she takes him in.
"Deimos," she murmurs, voice like the hush between worlds, and reaches forward with unhurried grace to rest her palm against his cheek. The gesture is tender, anchoring. Her thumb brushes just beneath his eye, fondness softening every line of her celestial face. "Twice in one season—any more and people will start to talk," she teases lightly, though the affection behind it is sincere. "You’ve been busy."
She steps past him, the hem of her starlit gown trailing soft brilliance behind her, and turns to regard the offerings. The glass flowers catch her gaze first and she breathes in through a smile, delighted. "These are exquisite," she says, lifting one between her fingers, where it refracts the ambient light into the faint shape of a constellation across her palm. Then her attention settles on the leviathan armour.
She crouches with a grace more divine than mortal, fingertips brushing the plated scales. A pulse of starlight blooms from beneath her palm. It spills through the grooves and seams, catching on every edge, every segment, suffusing the armour with radiant heat and celestial weight. The magic lingers for a moment—brilliant, blinding—before receding deep into the scales, leaving the surface unchanged, yet humming with new strength.

Her appearance was celestial as always – the constancy and beauty of starlight pooled and spilled, then hushed and still. Long gone were the days of dread, and instead he wrinkled his nose at her tease, permitting a smile to slip through at the jest. “Could not have that,” nor would he; well versed in ensuring his presence wasn’t something obnoxious nor overt.
She stepped away and he watched as she traced from flowers to armor, granting her acknowledgment with a light nod of his head and another grin, content that the arrangement had been to her liking – then waited for her powers to sink further into the leviathan’s might. The magic unfurled and wound, far deeper, far greater, far brighter than he’d ever be able to conduct or create, but there was no envy there. Only trust and conviction, why he’d gone to her in the first place. “Thank you,” for the opportunities, again and again, to prove himself. It’d be one more lacquered portion of protection to utilize against whatever encompassed the future.
