It's the job that's never started
Between Thorn's determination, Iskra's protection from the storm, and the overall buzz of anticipation, there's a joyous energy that slowly mounts throughout the day. Not even a near fall or near electrocution can dampen the mood, their work going quick to reach the finish line, but the day wouldn't be complete without a meal from Erika - and she does not hold back. From dense meats and soups to light tarts and salads, the shop owner brings enough to feed all of Caido, shooing the workers away to eat so she can steal a few minutes alone to admire the craftsmanship of the upper floors.
Rolling his shoulders, Zavien watches Sol glide around the forming tip of the Tower. His scales glint against the dark sky like a summons, calling them to finish the job. Swallowing the last drops of his lemonade, he and the others rush to the top again, knowing the end is near.
Within a few hours, the final piece is secured to the spire, a silent shift rippling through the crowd when the workers step away. It's an image being complete with a dramatic click, like a puzzle piece sliding into place or a key rotating each gear into their rightful position to seal the door. It's the end of an era and a beginning to something new and hopeful. Everyone holds their breath for a moment, disbelieving as the sky splits. A ray of sunlight dips through the clouds, catching the metal of the spire in a soft yet powerful shimmer of gold.
Then a strike of lightning crashes through, sparking bright as it connects with the pointed tip. A collective gasp floods the square, tears coming to people's eyes as they all wonder if it could be a blessing from the gods.
Zavien leans forward to place a hand against the bricks, recalling the man who had placed it - thinking on the people who will never have a chance to see it. His voice carries to those around him, somewhat numb in the overwhelming rush of emotions. "I can't thank you all enough for the work you've done." He makes sure to meet the eyes of each person, offering nods and smiles that hold a little more weight when they land on Iskra and Thorn. "Stormbreak wasn't the same without the Tower, and now..." Blinking away the dampness growing, he takes a deep breath and straightens his shoulders, modeling the pride he expects them to hold. The smile he wears is vibrant, grasping desperately at the hope. "Now we can focus on the future. This is the first step, and I couldn't have asked for a better crew to do it with. Thank you."
The Tower has been completed!! Thank you all for your help!! <3
