// May the road rise up to meet you //
A haze lay over the Village, acrid and persistent. Wherever the canopy parted to expose the ground all moisture instantly vaporised, leaving the soil parched and any foliage dried into a flaky, crumbly crisp that withered at a touch. The training grounds in particular baked under a relentless sun, here and there scorched black by spontaneous wildfires hastily smothered by cautious Fae, and mostly deserted for cooler, better shaded haunts.
Having the place to herself Maea took the chance to spread herself out more than she usually did, secretly savoring the heat as she worked through her stretches. Starting from the neck, she rolled out neck, shoulders, hips and back and all the joints to the tip of her tail, before vaulting up into a handstand and doing it all over again, in reverse. Breathing slowly, she made a point of repeating each motion until the form was perfect, really nitpicking with herself until she was satisfied. With nothing planned for the day beyond this, she took pleasure in immersing herself in the exercise, free from plans and worries - only aware of the subtle burn building up in her muscles, and how stiffness and aches eased away.
Once thoroughly warmed up both inside and out, she looked over the equipment she had brought, assessing what would suit her for the day. Dusting her hands off before pulling her hair back in a loose braid over one shoulder, she looked up briefly to watch a bird pass across the sky; its shadow cooled her pale face for an instant, and she squinted to make out its colors.
