It might be fondness on Caly's face, but the flat look that Jack levels towards Nova suggests that her quickfire (and seemingly endless) questions are starting to wear on his patience. "Sure did," he says of the Kingmaker's grotesque and chimaeric appearance. "Had three heads - one for each animal," he adds, starting to turn The Ark now so they can get slower and start to descend into the skyport - he assumes that the girls have gotten their fill of the region from above, though if he's wrong he's got no doubt that he'll hear about it.

"Fought with Mel' an' another Torcher - he's dead now." Because Jack had killed him, in fact, but that's another story. "Ark wasn't involved, it happened on land. Now, story time's over for a bit. Either go find somethin' to do or go sit tight until we've landed."

Nova

The greatest gift

Three heads sounded even worse and Nova's face communicates as much. Her nose scrunches, lips drawing up in unfiltered disgust, a shiver wiggling down her body. "Nasty. I'm glad you killed it. I only wish I was there to help." After all, she'd be really good with all her magics and awesomeness. She doesn't think he'd even need Mel to help. 

Before she can ask more questions about how he'd managed to defeat the Kingmaker, Jack's giving them a clear dismissal. Nova presses her lips into a pout, a million other questions flooding her brain, but she's come to recognize his limits, to know when she can press and when it might be a good idea to give him space. She'll have to ask him more about his previous adventures another time. 

Grabbing her sister's arm, Nova rushing them towards the bow of the ship. "Okay! Come on, Caly! Let's see if we can spot Vespy from up here!" And until Jack anchors the Ark, she'll continue to babble on about the far reaches of the Greatwood, trying to spot various wildlife (or people) from their vantage point high above.
