The mood in the room fell quiet and sincere as Saiden looked up at her and Jiao shifted uncomfortably. She wasn't good at being vulnerable, wrapped everything up with a giggle and a joke and a mean comment, distracting, turning away, deflecting. His eyes on her felt piercing but kind, and she wasn't sure which was worse.
