Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

I'm such a lucky duck Come on and dance now, everyone is having fun
This is an ominous fucking shrine, though he supposes it feels appropriate, given the deities it was built for and their domains of death. Still, Koa feels a shiver go down his spine as he slides off his horse and approaches the structure, not particularly keen to know the stories behind all those bones. He eyes the bleached skulls warily, careful not to disturb any as he sets out his wares: The sweater, moth-eaten; a pile of snowmoss, now rather crumbly; the mothman's downy scale, of course.
And a single rubber ducky, jet black with a white mask painted onto it. A remnant from his ridiculous spar with Melita, one he figures Ludo will appreciate.
"Ludo, I've finished my quest," Koa announces to the bone-shrine, on edge as he waits for the herald to appear. "And, uh, I've spent some time with your newest demigod. She tried to kill me with ducks and stole my shoes, but overall I think she's pretty great."
Braved the forests, braved the stone Braved the icy winds and fire Braved and beat them on my own
"She's wonderful, isn't she," Ludo agrees warmly; Koa won't be able to see the deity, but if he looks around, he'll notice that the raggedy god's voice is coming from one of the stacked skulls in the shrine, the jaw moving and clacking together as though something is puppeting it around. "Put the duck in my mouth." It's a demand, not a request.
In the meantime, between them, a hot breeze will suddenly cover Koa's quest items in a thick layer of sand; the Dragoon will have to reach out to dust the shirt off in particular. And when he does, voila - no longer a moth eaten mess, Koa will be holding a finely made shirt, light and soft and dark as the mothman scale it was crafted from.
Koa has completed his quest and has received:
Type: Light | Style: Defensive | Level: Basic
Mothman Scale Shirt | A soft, lightweight shirt made from the scales of a slain mothman. Blocks Physical damage and downgrades incoming Upgraded dark magic to Basic level. Can be used 1x per thread.

It takes an immense deal of self control to keep Koa from jumping out of his skin when the skull begins to talk. He does his best to suppress a shudder, wincing slightly at the sound of old bones clattering and scraping against itself. "Yup, ok, sure," Koa agrees to the demand, forced brightness straining his voice. He's not, like, upset, just deeply unsettled. Distantly, he wonders if that wasn't the whole point to this request.
With trembling fingers hyperextended, Koa sets the duck gingerly in the skull's mouth. As soon as he can he pulls his hand backward, absolutely confident those undead teeth will snap shut and chop his digits off.
At least he's got a cool shirt out of this. Though by the end, he may well need a new pair of pants.
We're all dancing to the sound of bass and drum Come on, come on and dance now
Braved the forests, braved the stone Braved the icy winds and fire Braved and beat them on my own
The undead teeth do, indeed, clack shut, though it's around the Ludo-esque rubber ducky rather than Koa's fingers. In response, a bright and high pitched squeek emits from the duck, though whether or not it's meant to make the sound is up for debate. Either way, the dragoon has what he wants, Ludo has what it wants, and everyone is happy if not in need of a change in underwear.
"Fanks," the skull intones, the duck continuing to squeak between its jaws as it tries to converse. "'oo can go 'ow."
