Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.

He tried to dodge. He tried to jump back and out of the way when he saw the bear part its jaws and pinpoint its soulless, black eyes on him. But he was not fast enough, not as fast as he had been previously. The violent purple surge struck him and Noah gasped — no longer the growls of frustration leaving his gritted teeth, but a gasp of surprise and pain ripped from his open mouth.
It was as if the light all went out in Noah’s world. The sun went black and he dropped to his knees.
Desperation in despair, Noah reached for the only thing he knew to reach for: Vi.
His bright, brilliant, celestial dome illuminated the tundra in a 60-foot radius, and Noah’s only hope was that it brought healing to him and bring him back towards Vi’s light.
Noah uses Divine Opposition.
Magic: Divine Opposition | Noah summons a celestial shield dome in a 60ft radius. Any allies within the shield receive Mastered Healing, and any enemies are damaged at a Mastered level. May be used 3x per thread with a two post cool down.

Sah would have been satisfied with managing to strike the ursur but Noah getting hit easily overshadows it with concern. They need to kill this thing now. Talyson still seems to be recovering and the Wild Thunder doesn't want to see another one of his friends go down. Especially when they still don't know if their injuries will have lingering effects or not.
Evie attacks and Noah seems to reactively do so as well. But the Demi-god is clearly shaken. Taking a step forward, Sah snarls at the ursur to try and get its attention off of his fellow hunter, "Over here, you dumb fuck!" Calling his magic forward again, the Abandoned sends another bolt of lightning at the contaminated beast. With his mageglass warm beneath his armor, he can only hope that this will be the end of it.

Sah yells at the ursur to draw its attention and tries to hit it with lightning again! Mageglass is active.

Tal knew exactly what sort of punch the Ursur's roar packed and as mad as he was about the demigod hitting him and Sah with friendly fire, it didn't mean he wanted to see the other man hurt. For once he didn't argue with or grumble at Evie when she gave her orders. As much as he bristled at being bossed around, even Tal couldn't deny the need to put the corrupted bear down, and fast.
"On it!"
Noah finally got his dome up and Sah went for lightning again and Tal figured he would just be stabbing a smoking corpse by the time everyone else got done with it, but it was better to be safe than sorry. He moved up in front of Evie again just in case the horrible void-critter was feeling dodgy again and took one more stab at the damned thing's chest.
Tal moves up in front of Evie (just in case) within 30 feet of the Ursur and takes a stab at its chest with his Dagger!

Rockhide Vest | An armoured vest flecked in black and white and lined with cool, fur-like material. This item blocks physical damage. Requires a 2 post cool-down between uses.

Hands off! | Silver striping covers the Rockhide Vest. When successfully struck in melee combat it deals lightning damage at half the wearer's damage stat.
As soon as the ground beneath it begins to heave, the ursur shifts to the side such that as Evie 's spikes push through the ice, they spear nothing but the frigid air.
As the Foresaken falls to his knees, golden light pours out of him, covering his allies and the bear; those nearest to him are healed and given the roar of pain from the ursur's parted jaws, it's clear the same can't be said for the void creature.
Knowing that its time was nearly at an end, the voidshade ursur made one last desperate charge. Darting away from Sah 's lightning assault, it parted its jaws to blast the entirety of the little group, clustered together as they were. Just as violet light began to brightly pulse in the back of its throat, the thick pelt of its neck was neatly cut by Talyson 's hand. The light ceased suddenly as brackish purple blood poured from the open wound, and though for a second or so the creature looked as though it might still attack, quickly it slumped lifelessly onto the snow.
Congratulations! You've killed the Voidshade Ursur and survived the KQ! You may all use this for levelling.

The Voidshade Ursur can be looted for:
Infected Void Tusks | The teeth of a voidshade ursur which can be crafted into a weapon by a god. The teeth will always cause an injury to the person wielding it on a failed attack.
Infected Voidshade Ursur Pelt | The pelt of a voidshdae ursur which can be created into armor by a god. The pelt provides mastered-level protection against attacks, but makes the wearer attack whoever is closest to them while wearing it.
The bear falls, so Sah quickly sprints over to the fallen Demi-god. "Noah! Are you okay?" He stays a foot away so as not to crowd the man, unsure of how to help without making things worse. Thankfully, Talyson and Evie are both on their feet, and a quick glance confirms that they are stable. "Are you two alright?" The courier still looks worse for wear, making his brow furrow. But at least the man seems back to normal. Sah thanks the gods that Evie seems completely unharmed.
He side-eyes the fallen bear and adds, "Once we get home, I'll get a team together to clean this up." They'll need to dispose of it safely. Not trusting the spoils, he leaves them for another to take.

He hadn't expected his weapon to be needed, but he was suddenly damned glad that he'd followed Evie's orders instead of his gut. He wiped sweat and blood from his forehead and grimaced, but waved at Sah to indicate that he was fine. Well... not fine, but he'd survive.
"Thanks," he offered gruffly to Evie, not quite willing to meet her eyes as he put his Dagger away, but now that they were out of the thick of combat and the soul-chilling despair wasn't pushing down on his chest he could at least get the word out properly. 'For. Um. Savin' me." And it wasn't easy to admit that either. But he did it. Somehow.
And while he might have wanted to cry earlier when Ludo's mischief had shrunk the bear without hurting it, suddenly he realized just how important the masked god's work had been as he moved over to examine the carcass - not from too close, though. "...This'll be a lot easier t'clean up'n that fucker in Torchline," he said approvingly. "Get that blood frozen before it can sink into th'ground, though." That's what he remembered from Flora's lesson in toxic spill mitigation, at least.
And then, grudgingly, because he still fucking hurt, he abandoned the Ursur and its spoils and went to offer Noah a hand up. It was the hand with his Healing ring, and he'd activate it to give the Forsaken a boost if he accepted the courier's help. "We gotta lotta teamwork t'practice," was all he said, all prickly edges and grouchy resignation once more.
And after he and Sah had some time to chat about upcoming meetings, there'd be even more reason for it. Tal doesn't take an item.
All Evie can manage for Talyson’s gratitude is a terse nod of her head, vitriol brewing behind clenched teeth. He’s never wanted her kindness before so he won’t be receiving it now.
Sah’s concern has her unlocking the clench of her jaw to confirm, “We’re alright. Thank you - I appreciate the trust you gave me.” To have listened when he didn’t need to, or if he thought he knew better. Watching Talyson flit comfortably between the two men - her men, not his, not anymore - while making plans and touting teamwork makes that horrible blackness slide up her veins and into her mouth where it pools like acid, begging for her to give it a single, tiny opening.
Her arms ache with the clench of her fists, and just to take it out on something she decides to rip the infected tusks out of the bear’s face with her telekinesis. The Evergreen won’t be touching it, thank god for parkas that serve little purpose with the sad remains of the Academy blessing, but she’s not walking away empty handed from this shitshow.
When she has them wrapped and secured, the Evergreen turns to face the three men, extending a hand just enough to impart healing for Sah and Noah as she takes control. “All of you need to head to the infirmary immediately. I will alert the Shields and have them establish a perimeter in the meantime.” Then her eyes cut to Talyson, glacially cold in their blueness and face perfectly still. “I’d like to meet with you in my office, Talyson. I will send you my availability.” Not the other way around. It’s not a request. Evie is sick and tired of this game, and if it takes ripping sentiment out of her own chest with her bare hands then so be it. She’s a fucking Warden, and politics is what she does best.
