Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

Sah had no idea what he was doing. The jeweler, Ms. Lapis was an absolute sweetheart, teaching him the basics and letting him borrow a spot in her workshop. Apart from his mageglass necklace and a single charm bracelet that he'd made for Soleil, the Wild Thunder had very little jewelry experience and he was immensely grateful for her gentle guidance. Using her scrap metal, he'd practiced making small trinkets until he had a better understanding of what went into the process.
After Ms. Lapis had helped him finalize the design and steps to craft it, she insisted on piercing his ear for him. Despite only coming up to his collarbone, Ms. Lapis had the stern glare of the great-grandmother that she was and wouldn't stand for him attempting to do it himself with his magic. The Wild Thunder hadn't stood a chance.
With his ear freshly pierced, Sah was finally ready to get to work. With his eyes focused on the sketch, he began weaving his magic into the center of his palm. Soon, a gold studded earring formed in the shape of a star rested in his hand. Taking it, Sah snapped it into place before glancing over at Ms. Lapis, who was hunched over her workspace. "So?"
The elderly woman grinned widely and gave a big thumbs up before returning to her task, making the Abandoned snort. Just as he was about to thank her, the door chime rang, and someone entered the shop.

Lucky Star Earring: A studded star earring that grants the wearer +2 luck when worn. (Made by Sah)

”Sah!” Marcus exclaimed, his voice full of excitement and at such a volume it drowned out the ding of Ms. Lapis’ bell. The young abandoned rushed towards the older, throwing his arms open without abandon and quickly wrapped them around the hunter’s waist. ”I saw you out the window.” he said, pulling back from the man after he finished the statement.
Marcus looked around, then, just noticing that they were in a business establishment. His cheeks flushed briefly and lightly as he looked around. Then soft glacier eyes reached back up for the once-wolf. ”What are you doing in here?”
Sah grinned widely, arms opening to catch the younger in a tight hug, "Did you, now?" He gave the boy a squeeze before letting Marcus pull back. "It's good to see you." He was about to ask how the boy had been when Marcus realized where they were. Adorable. Snorting out a soft laugh, The Wild Thunder reached over and gently ruffled his hair.
Pulling his hand back, Sah bent his knees to crouch at his little cousin's level. With a tilt of his head, he let the light coming from the window catch the gold in his left ear, "Just getting myself a new accessory. It's enchanted to give me a little extra luck." It was a simple thing, but the older Abandoned was pleased with his success. It opened the door to so many other possibilities. What other boons could he enchant into jewelry? He'd have to test and see.
Marcus’s face lit up with a genuine smile as Sah’s arms opened wide. The warmth of the hug was comforting, and he felt a surge of affection as Sah gave him a tight squeeze. It was good to see him too—Sah’s presence always had a way of making things feel more grounded and familiar.
As Sah ruffled his hair, Marcus couldn’t help but snort out a soft laugh. When Sah crouched to his level and mentioned the new accessory, Marcus’s curiosity was piqued. He tilted his head, following the his cousin’s gaze to the golden earring that glinted in the sunlight. The enchantment for luck sounded like something straight out of a storybook, or a tale of a demigod, and Marcus could see the excitement in Sah’s eyes. It wasn’t just about the earring; it was about the possibilities it represented. Sah’s enthusiasm for discovering new enchantments and possibilities was infectious.
"Wow, that’s really cool,” Marcus said, his eyes wide with admiration. “I didn’t know you could enchant jewelry like that. What else do you think you could add to your collection? Can Deimos do that?" His mind raced with possibilities, inspired by Sah’s spirit.

yet my blood renders me a King
Sah's grin widened, "It really is." His eyes softened as he watched the wheels in Marcus' head spin, "Deimos absolutely can. This was my first attempt at doing the same." The idea came when he'd vaguely recalled the Sword mentioning enchanting some kind of jewelry once. It was years ago so the Wild Thunder couldn't' perfectly recall the conversation. But the premise had stuck with him. Now, he'd finally put it into action.
"When you're older, and your parents approve, I could make you one too." He'd been debating what kind of item to make Marcus for some time now. It was easy for his twins. At their age, a weapon was logical. But his little cousin was still too young for such things. Old enough for some basic training maybe, but nothing beyond that.
With his task complete, Sah walked Marcus home, debating the merits of future creations along the way.
