Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.

Time passed, and Rhiannon continued with the steady work of placing brick after brick into place. It was perhaps a bit tedious, but necessary, and Rhi doggedly forced herself to focus so that her craftsmanship wasn’t as shoddy as it had been while actually making the bricks. It took most of the day, such that when they’d finished and only the gate remained, the titan’s pyre lit the scene as dusk began to fall.
With Deimos and Sah to work on the gate, Rhi smiled again at Elizabeth, with whom it seemed she would be paired once more. Then she took a group of soldiers to inspect the work to one side of the gate. ”I’ll go this way, if you go the other,” she called over her shoulder to the therapist.
The bricklaying seemed to be going well. It was all slowly coming together to restore their protective wall; however, Elizabeth could see and feel the exhaustion starting to spread through everyone, herself included. She wasn't one for manual labor, and it showed in the way her movements became stiff against the cold, steps heavier. Luckily, the end was in sight.
Being reunited with her last partner, Elizabeth smiled at Rhi. "Works for me!" And with the agreement made, she went the other direction, her eyes scanning the walls up and down with diligence. As the light faded, it was difficult to see any missed sections, making her squint with effort that threatened to give her a headache. The torches were in limited supply (and she could always use the magic practice), so she settled for letting sparks of lightning run across her fingers and up the wall, illuminating the new structure and any imperfections, satisfied to find very few.
Elizabeth helps inspect, sometimes using lightning to see (for leveling reqs XD).
Rendering the gates back into true form took some beating, cajoling, and magical interventions from both Deimos and Sah, but eventually the circumstances rendered them straightened and righted – hooked back upon their metallic slabs and left to close and open and guard once more. Wiping at his brow and shaking his head, his attention went towards the walls themselves, and once inspection was cleared, every brick and mold in its place, with only the flicker of the pyre down below, they could call it an evening. Gathering them together again, he gave another nod, a proud but tired smile lingering on his features. “That should be enough. We can always check over it again in the morning,” and all the following days thereafter, already beginning to form clearer plans for patrols and duties, especially over the incoming LongNight. “Thank you all again.”
From there, they’d be able to disperse. The Sword would check in with the soldier manning the fire watch too – and together, once the titan had been swallowed by the conflagration, they could dump the ashes far, far away from their icy world.
