Sah

The web fell away under their combined efforts, and Sah took a shaky breath as his magic returned, "Thank you, both." He wasn't sure what Noah had attempted to do just now there but the uncomfortable sensation of the rock hitting him, even with his armor, grabbed his attention. And then, of course, the spider returned. Fucking hell. Two hidden enemies to kill, an ally to free, a tunnel to stabilize, and they could all use some healing. What a mess.

Sah wanted to free Noah first. The sensation of being cut from his magic was horrific, and he hated that his cousin was dealing with it now. But the Wild Thunder knew that he was the only one amongst them with earth magic. He needed to address the tunnel issue. It seemed that the rest of the team was on the same page, given the instructions sent his way. "Already on it."

Even if he didn't like leaving Noah to fend for himself, Sah saw the logic in the older Demi-god's plan and in Jack's addition, so he played his part. Hang on, Noah. I have to stabilize the tunnel, but then I'll help. He tried to send reassurance through the bond even as he cursed under his breath. Partially shifting his eyes and ears to his wolf form once more, he focused on the tunnel around them. Sah let out a small sigh as he felt his magic respond. There was plenty of earth in front of them in the tunnel that he still needed to dig. Pulling from that, he tried to force the earth to fill in any cracks or gaps in the tunnel wall to close.

~
Sah uses his earth magic to stabilize/fortify the tunnel. He does so by pulling 10 cubic ft's worth of earth from the end of the tunnel in front of them (lengthening the tunnel and keeping it wide enough to fight in as a consequence if possible) to fill in any gaps/cracks in the walls/floor/ceiling. His eyes and ears are partially shifted to wolf form. Armor cooldown 1/2.

Earth Manipulation (Abandoned/Hybrid): Can create and control the earth. Must be within a 30ft radius.

the crush
The tunnel pulsed with pain, but so did Hadama ’s moonlight.

It radiated in a low, silvery mist, flooding the broken corridor with a cool, healing glow. Bruises faded, cuts sealed, and cracked bones found themselves whole again beneath the celestial balm. The breath it gave them was brief—but precious. A moment to regroup, to breathe in more than dust and fear.

Noah thrashed in his bonds, chest heaving beneath the weight of absence. But then—a spark. Not of magic, but of will. Gritting his teeth, the hunter shifted—not fully, not smoothly, but enough. Talons burst from his fingers in a half-shift, and with jerking, sawing motions, he began to tear at the web that held him. Slow. Clumsy. But it was working.

He wasn't free yet. But he was fighting.

Below, the ground trembled once more.

The Mirewyrm struck again—an unseen slam from somewhere deep beneath. Cracks spiderwebbed through the ceiling, stones jittered loose, and the scent of freshly broken voidrock spilled into the air. But this time, the tunnel held. Sah ’s magic surged into the earth like roots digging into stone, reinforcing the walls and ceiling in all directions. Where there was weakness, he filled it. Where the wyrm pressed, the hybrid pushed back harder.

And this time, the island didn’t win.

But then—the air fractured again.

With a flicker like light skipping off water, the Webvex reappeared—farther down the tunnel, its legs twitching with too many joints, eyes gleaming like dew in a spider's dream. Jack was ready. A blade of air magic split the tight air and hissed toward the void spider—but the creature shifted just aside, twitching its body unnaturally to let the attack pass harmlessly through.

In return, it fired.

A bolt of webbing lanced toward @Hadama—but it missed, slamming into the wall beside him with a splat that immediately hissed and melted into void-touched stone. The creature’s many eyes blinked as one—and then it was gone again, flickering out of sight with that stomach-turning ripple that marked its unnatural movement through dimensions.

Silence returned—but it was loaded. Heavy with things unseen.

The Mirewyrm waited below.
The Webvex circled above.
And Noah still wasn’t free.

Jack HP: 270/300 **armour cooldown
Noah HP: 507/580 **trapped in void webbing, 141HP/200HP
Sah HP: 593.5/610 **armour cooldown

Webvex: 888/888

Remember to include a summary at the bottom of your post with all action taken. If weapons/upgrades/abilities/items/shifts/etc are used, please include their desc. from your profile at the bottom of your post as well.

REMEMBER: KQs are rewarding but dangerous. They may cause death and/or permanent changes to your characters.

Mirewyrm (Rare):  The Mirewyrm is a colossal void entity, vaguely serpentine and dragonlike, that tunnels through stone as though the rock were liquid. Its body is plated in black, semi-metallic scales that shimmer with deep-space reflections, constantly shifting and rearranging like something unfinished. It has no eyes, and its mouth opens sideways in a jagged, spiral maw—a gateway rather than a mouth, lined not with teeth, but with coiling tendrils of voidlight and gravity.

Webvex (Rare): A massive, void-corrupted spider that stalks The Crush, the Webvex is an ethereal predator capable of phasing in and out of reality. Its translucent, oil-slick body pulses with alien constellations, and its many limbs jitter with unnatural, twitching grace. Where a face should be is a single, spiralling maw that consumes sound, memory, and reason. It spins crystalline void-webs that cling to magic, thought, and flesh alike.

”Indeed.” Jack was correct, and Hadama fully intended to follow through on the Captain’s advice once the worst of the bruises had been soothed. Perhaps the spider’s death would be enraging enough to bring it back for revenge. Provided, of course, that they could kill the spider. It was a slippery creature, evading Jack’s attack, and the Tidebreaker considered their next move even as Noah made inroads on his bonds.

It was Sah fighting the Wyrm to a standstill that drew Hadama’s quiet admiration, however. ”Well done,” he rumbled to the fierce hunter. In the moments of breathing room that they had earned he considered their options, letting go of his anger at the Void and all other emotions besides stoic determination. A demigod could afford the privilege of outrage, but a King could not. Those with him were his people, at least for today. He took a breath within his mask and considered what they had witnessed of their enemies. How the spider moved and the Wyrm attacked the island itself. There was too much they still did not know. How far did the Wyrm’s destruction extend? They had remained where it had left them, just as the previous trio had done. If they moved farther along the tunnels, could they escape the range of its thrashing and force it to come after them once more?

The spider was taking advantage of the wider arena that Sah had created for them. It moved around them freely, targeting them with ease. Could they restrict its targets?

It was ice cold pragmatism that had him looking to Sah, grimly countermanding the offer of assistance in the Attuned bond. ”You are the only one who can keep the Mirewyrm from bringing the tunnel down upon all of us.” And if the Forsaken was angry after this, he could be angry at the Tidebreaker rather than his cousin. ”As you reinforce it, can you narrow the walls once more? Back to its original dimensions.” So that the spider could only attack the person in the front and the one in the back, not the two in the middle. They needed to protect Sah at all costs, and with the Pheromone Stone around his neck, Jack should be left alone.

Leaving only Hadama for the spider to focus on. And he would not always be so lucky as to dodge. So.

Jack , assist Noah, please.” They might not be able to free the Forsaken just yet, but if they needed to run, Noah would need access to his teleportation.

As for Hadama, he focused inwards, stilling his breathing. Seeking the sense of the universe tearing that they had felt thrice before. The moment of fracture that heralded the spider’s appearance before it attacked. And if the Webvex phased back into range, Hadama would send his gravity spikes down upon its thorax and the spinneret that had already caused them so much trouble. Four times, in quick succession.

Hadama tells Sah to continue stabilizing the tunnel, and to do so by making it narrower again instead of longer. He asks Jack to help Noah free himself. Then he waits for the Webvex to appear and uses his Gravity Spikes+Singularity to try and damage its spinneret.

JACK

"It's life or death - you don't gotta mind your p's and q's 'round me," Jack quips to Hadama with a decisive nod, his blue eyes sharp and disappointed at the way the spider had effortlessly sidestepped his assault. But he'd almost expected as much - and there is something he can do, given the situation with Noah. "I'll help out here - keep focused on the tunnel and on the spider," he calls to Tidebreaker and Wild Thunder, air magic whipping around him to refocus into a sharp point.

"A'right, let's get you free of this fuckery," he mutters to Noah, straightening up and rolling his shoulders (shoulders that feel a lot fucking better thanks to that blast of healing magic) and sending another blade of air towards the partially shredded webbing, hoping that the next time the spider decides to appear and disappear, the Forsaken would be free to rejoin the fray.

Jack agrees to help free Noah and aims a blade of Mastered Air at the webbing to help get him out of it. He calls for Sah and Hadama to keep focused on the tunnel and the spider.

The Forsaken

The absence struck deep as he writhed, still mostly bound in webbing.

Noah’s breath came hard and fast as he tried to wrench an arm free, muscles straining with brute strength. He slashed at the webbing, the thick, sticky strands resisting every stroke. Each tear was slow and maddening. The web clung like it knew him, like it was built to bind something divine and snuff it out of existence.

His claws snagged again, ripping through the fibers over his chest. He pressed forward, every movement fueled by fury and instinct. He heard the captain and stopped writhing and straining for a moment, so that Jack could hit his mark. Jack assisted with his magic and Noah felt a pulse of thankfulness flicker within him.

But that feeling was nothing compared to what he didn't feel.

He reached inward, grasping for Vi’s fire, for the divine thread that had always been there. Nothing. Just void. The silence inside him rang louder than the chaos around him. Panic flared sharp beneath his ribs. His magic was supposed to answer, to rise, to burn—but it didn’t. Not even a flicker. He felt stripped, exposed, less than himself. A demigod with no divinity—was this truly Forsaken?

Noah is still partially shifted with Griffin claws and tries to tear away the webbing—again! He lets Jack help and tries not to move too much when he uses his air magic, as to not get hurt by it accidentally.

Sah

Damn it all, the wyrm was strong. Sah nodded at Hadama's praise, surprised at himself for having been able to keep the creature at bay, even temporarily. With Jack moving to help Noah, the Wild Thunder continued to focus on the tunnel. "Will do." No doubt the wyrm would continue thrashing around in the earth in an attempt to crush them with falling debris. Sah couldn't allow that.

Drawing on his magic again, the hybrid reached for the earth. He pulled earth from the end of the tunnel, once more lengthening it. This time, he pulled significantly more earth so that he could narrow the tunnel as well as reinforce it. He tried to bring it as close ot its original tightness as he could. His wolf senses were on high alert for any signs of the wyrm.

~
Sah once again uses his earth magic to stabilize/fortify the tunnel as needed. He does so by pulling 30 cubic ft's worth of earth from the end of the tunnel in front of them (lengthening the tunnel while narrowing the entire thing down like Hadama suggests) to fill in any gaps/cracks in the walls/floor/ceiling that the wyrm causes. His eyes and ears are still partially shifted to wolf form. Armor cooldown 2/2.

the crush
The Mirewyrm struck again.

From deep below, a thud reverberated through the stone like a buried heartbeat. The tunnel shuddered, cracks threatening to blossom across the ceiling, the walls, the ground beneath their boots. But Sah was ready. With a snarl of determination and hands pressed to the stone, he poured his magic into the earth—not just to hold, but to reshape. The tunnel narrowed with a groan of shifting rock, stone folding inward like a clenched jaw. Eight feet became six. Then five.

Dust rained from above, but nothing gave way.

The wyrm could rage all it wanted. It wasn’t getting in. Not yet.

Behind them, Jack ’s second blade of air magic sliced through the clinging void-webbing with a hiss. The strands peeled away in jagged curls, and Noah moved. Freed at last, the Forsaken surged forward with a breathless rush of fury and panic—his claws still extended, muscles burning, breath wild in his lungs.

Then came the ripple.

Hadama felt it first—the tearing edge of unreality just before it snapped. The Webvex blinked into existence mid-lunge, limbs splayed across the tunnel walls like a hideous marionette. It aimed straight for Noah again, eyes flaring in unison.

But the Tidebreaker was faster.

Four gravity spikes punched through the tunnel like falling stars—precise, brutal, righteous. The first struck its shoulder, sending one leg lurching sideways. The second caught its carapace, cracking translucent plating with a sickening pop. The third and fourth hammered the thorax and spinneret, splintering bone-slick limbs and throwing the creature askew.

Its webbing fired—wild, uncontrolled—and missed Noah by a breath, the bolt slamming into the tunnel wall instead, fizzling harmlessly against stone.

Then the Webvex vanished again, leaving behind only the hiss of its injury and the stink of burnt voidflesh.

Silence crept in once more—but not safety.
The tunnel held.
The wyrm waited.
The spider still watched.

Hadama watched his gravity spikes strike true, considering the damage they wrought. Significant… but not enough. Narrowing the tunnel did not seem to prevent the spider from aiming at Noah, but at least some damage had been done to its spinneret. It had still managed to shoot its vile webbing, but perhaps its aim would not be quite so precise now.

Finally they were all free and able to act. Bruised and battered, yes, but at full strength. The Wyrm continued to shake the walls in vain against Sah’s strength, but the subtle starlit sparkle was returning to the feathers of Hadama’s armour, and he glanced back at his companions to see that they were looking similarly outfitted once more. He did not allow himself to feel satisfaction at the sight; not yet. The job was not yet done, and both enemies remained alive. But—

”Now we may move to offense,” he rumbled quietly through his mask, his gaze landing on Sah with a subtle tilt of his head to release the Abandoned from his duty as tunnel guardian before shifting to the others. ”Rely on your armour. I will be able to heal us again if the Wyrm strikes.” Emerald eyes lingered on Noah , a reminder of the other demigod of life’s duty, but Hadama turned his attention away after only a breath in order to focus on the tunnel around them once more. The space. The faint movement of air past the hairs on his arms. Again, he waited for the shift that would herald the Webvex’s return.

And he knew that he would not strike alone.

If it appeared again, it would find four more lances of dark, heavy gravity striking down into it to shatter. To break. To set it up for one of his allies to kill.

Hadama tells the team to strike as one and rely on their armour to protect them from the Mirewyrm’s attack. He readies his Gravity Spikes+Singularity to strike at the Webvex if it appears in range.

JACK

May move to offence feels awfully soft for this situation, though so far Hadama's suggestions have held true - and the Tidebreaker has been responsible for healing some of the damage from the falling stone before, so Jack falls in line with a quick nod. He still doesn't like his chances when it comes to hitting the monstrously agile arachnid, but sometimes when you're half buried underground in a void-tunnel, trying is all you have.

Rolling his shoulders and adjusting his position so he can keep a keen eye on either side of the tunnel they've made, Jack readies his magic - and his nerve, for what he's sure is about to be a painful few seconds for someone, if not for them all.

Jack agrees and holds his action, readying his Mastered Air against the Webvex for when it next appears!

The Forsaken

Freedom.

It was like the breath coming up after being knocked out on the tundra for the weeks he was following the dragon attack. A gathering of life in his lungs that filled him completely. Only this time is was celestial, holy, brilliant.

The webvex appeared again and out of instinct and luck Noah was able to dodge the attack. He hissed a breath in then growled deeply in his throat as the twisted and vile webbing fizzled behind him. The commands went out and Noah nodded, flexing partially shifted hands and claws and preparing for another onslaught. He prepared his spirit stag to appear and charge the spider as soon as it came into view again — hopefully their attack would give him time to heal the party afterwards.

Sah

Noah was free and the tunnel was solid enough that Sah felt confident to follow Hadama's plan. He'd be ready to reinforce their path as soon as the damn spider was killed. It seemed injured but it was impossible for him to tell from these brief flashes of movement how close it was to falling. Maybe he should slow it down.

Readying his magic, Sah waited for the spider to reappear. As soon as the beast did, he sent a blade of air magic its way. He tried to aim for the legs, hoping to make it falter or even cut off a limb.

~
Sah waits for the webvex to appear and then attacks it with a slice of air magic when it does. (If possible, he aims for the legs to try and injure or cut one off). He is still partially shifted.

Air manipulation (Abandoned/Hybrid): Can create and control the air. Must be within a 30ft radius.

the crush
The ground bucked again beneath them—an angry, deep tremor that rolled through the tunnel like a tide of fury. The Mirewyrm hadn’t fled. It was watching, feeling, waiting. Another slam shook the tunnel, sending dust and rocks tumbling from above now that Sah was no longer holding it all together. Stone struck shoulders and backs with bruising force, a dozen small, sharp punishments for still standing. Even prepared, even armoured, it hurt.

The Webvex returned.

It phased in with a ripple like tearing silk, clinging to the ceiling like a desecrated starfish, limbs spread across the stone as it prepared another volley. Its many eyes blinked in tandem—one last attempt, but Hadama was ready.

Four gravity lances fired from his trident, black as space and heavy as judgment. They struck home with a thunderous crack, crushing through carapace and leg, snapping the creature’s form into a jagged lurch. It screeched—a soundless mental pressure that flickered and died as Noah ’s spirit stag leapt forth in a flare of golden light.

Its antlers caught the spider in the midsection and burned. Fire spread like a cleansing wound across the creature’s translucent flesh, igniting the void within. The Webvex spasmed once—twice—and then folded inward, its limbs curling like burnt paper as it slumped and clung to the ceiling, twitching in its death.

The shimmer that followed was its last.

A final, distorted ripple of unreality before it collapsed, lifeless, to the ground. Cracked, smouldering, and dead.

Only the Mirewyrm remained now.
Still unseen.
Still shaking the earth.
Still waiting.

He rode the bucking of the earth much as he would a wave in a storm. Not without cost, but without losing his focus. The pain that followed was expected but he put his trust in the armor Safrin had crafted and when the Webvex appeared again he was ready and waiting. He did his work thoroughly and well, with grim efficiency, but the pride would come later. The spider survived his second assault--

But then Noah's stag flared bright in the darkness and shepherded the Void-born spider to whatever afterlife awaited such creatures.

Still, they were not yet done.

" Sah , the tunnel, please." Swiftly on to the next challenge, and preventing further damage until they were certain the Mirewyrm would come for vengeance. " Jack , be ready to strike." Tempting, to fall back on caution and to ask his fellow demigod to assist in healing. But Hadama remembered clearly how their efforts had devolved against the Wyrm last time. It was with a grim ruthlessness that he nodded to Noah. "Prepare your stag as well." The other demigod could always heal them after this if the Wyrm did not appear.

A second time, the Tidebreaker sought within himself for the well of subtler energies, not to harm foes but to heal allies. Not to wound, but to mislead. If the Wyrm did not appear, they would regain some of what they had lost as the silvery mist rose around them to fill the tunnel and seep down into the cracks in the earth left by the last shake. If it did come back into range of its most effective attack, it would find itself disoriented and fighting at a disadvantage as Hadama used his power to Turn the Tide once more.

Hadama uses Turn the Tide to Heal the party and give the Mirewyrm disadvantage if it returns. He tells Sah to stabilize the tunnel against the Mirewyrm’s thrashing in case it doesn't take the bait on the dead spider, but tells Jack and Noah to be ready to attack it in case it shows up.

JACK

The tunnel shatters down on them hard enough to drive the air from Jack's lungs, the captain knocked against the wall where he stays until the quakes subside, as if to make himself as small as possible. Only once Hadama speaks does he straighten back up, brushing dirt and small stones from his hair and off his shoulders. "If it doesn't take the bait?" he questions, not truly wanting to know the answer, though his breath does come easier as the Tidebreaker's healing magic washes through them once again.

"Maybe it doesn't like spider," he reasons, wrinkling his nose but nevertheless dragging the shreds of his willpower back together so he can ready it against the Mirewyrm - if and when it reappears. "Unless you got a carcass of somethin' hidin' in your back pockets, I say if it doesn't show its face, we plant the flower and go." It's still one less monster for next time, surely.

Jack readies his Air magic to attack the Mirewyrm should it be drawn by the Webvex's corpse. He suggests planting the flower and getting the fuck out of dodge if it doesn't show up.

Air manipulation (Abandoned/Hybrid): Can create and control the air. Must be within a 30ft radius.
