For one strange moment, Remi thinks that Ronin means to cover his eyes so that they don't simply stare up at him once he's dead. Or perhaps it's so that the alchemist won't look at him as the Huntsman does kill him. Instead of pressure, there's just shadow, and then then the itch. Like poison ivy rubbed inside of his veins, only now Remi finds he's able to weakly protest this with slight movement.

Remi's fingers work against his husband's, trying to slip between them as his eyes blink back the afterglare of the supernova. "I couldn't even if I wanted to." There's a sideways grin on the alchemist's lips—at least he thinks there is—as he tries to wiggle his toes. "I am not even sure I can walk right now." He adds, coughing out a laugh that's dry and painful and real.

"I wish I had something better to say than I'm sorry." Like when Remi had been pushed away from Vi to fall, and fall, and fall, such was the depth of his grief for the things he'd put his husband through. "I hate the man that I have become, that I would do these things to you. That I have nothing more to say for myself than I did not think, or It was an accident." Reaching out he tries to brush his fingers against Ronin's cheek, to dry the tears there, but his arm falls heavily back toward his body.
