Sometimes my heart doesn't beat at night
It’s an exciting day. A jaunt to the Grounds to make a delivery, Nate stubbornly refusing to refer to the babies as anything other than them, as if he wasn’t already thinking in names, the minute differences between the twins etched into his brain. It takes less time for them to go back home, leathery wise cutting the distance in half, and leaving them with time. Time where they do nothing it eat, and lay in bed. Nates usually wide awake anyway, but both of them are tonight, too wound up to actually sleep.
It’s earlier in the night than it usually is when Nate turns to face Sunjata, waiting a breath before he speaks. “You wanna do something stupid?” He already knows the answer is going to be yes, already knows they’re going to find themselves on the pitch black beach, and soon, the pitch black water, only the lingering effects of a bite warming them.
Stormbreak isn’t close by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s not a terrible journey all things considered. The world is still bathed in an inky darkness by the time they arrive to the singing cliffs, tension rolling off of Nate in waves. Do you want to shift first? Make sure the coast is clear?
