While Chrys had a head start, experience, and directions on her side, Deimos had power, fortitude, and endurance keeping him careening through the sea with aplomb. Legs and arms worked together in a union of might and muscle, dragging the glass jar and its rope, and before long he’d caught up to the mermaid, giving her a sideways glance, a peculiar tilt of his head, as he sought to match pace with her for a moment.
