Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

"Vi has my allegiance. Though it was Frey first. I've yet to meet Safrin." He spoke the words plain and simple, but there was an underlying truth beneath them: as long as your allegiance doesn't turn to the Voice, I have no reason to hit you. While Noah didn't have the same depth of relationship with the herald of nature that Sunjata did with the starlit lady, he understood that certain offers could influence certain decisions. In the end, Sunjata still stood on the side of the old gods -- if only barely, somehow holding on the last inch of a thread -- and it needed to be enough for Noah.
"Did you come here to apologize to her?" Noah asked as the Flood stood and turned away. The pain in each of his movements was obvious, and if Noah were someone here to seek vengeance he believed it would be easy to gain it. But he wasn't. He had come simply to pray to his own deity, to ask for guidance and assurance as to his next steps. The way the new demigod moved made the hairs on the back of Noah's neck stand up, the tension in the air and between the two men thickening with each breath.
