She saw Vai’s hesitation; which was fair, considering the bairn strapped to her chest – but if he remained still and quiet despite the rest of their frivolous antics, perhaps he’d be fine? She wasn’t going to pressure her, but the teasing grin remained, ebullient and whimsical, a tiny bit of fey tethered to her features. “We won’t know until you try,” and then she winked, she shrugged, uncertain of a prize but willing to continue giving it a go despite the unknown.
Her eyes shifted, body turned, to watch Lily’s attempts. For her first venture, it was admirable, only just managing to miss the opening. “Well done!” Melita proffered with a heartfelt whoop thereafter, stepping up to launch another bag, aiming to hit Lily’s and send it flying into the hole, where it belonged. It sailed again, effortless and carefree, pinpointing on the edge of Lily’s and sending them both into the sanction. It was a precision she hadn’t been known for, and she couldn’t help but smile at it. Perhaps she was getting better, becoming more attentive, striving to hit the mark instead of simply brandishing a weapon and praying for the siege to be successful.
But she hated for Vai to be left out – gaze adjusting back to the older woman and her child. Maybe one of them could hold him? Though – truth be told, she wasn’t sure if anyone would trust her with a baby.
