The journey was swift thanks to the use of his magic. A few months ago it would have been far more harrowing for both of them, but Hadama had worked hard to hone his control and he had a merfolk's natural affinity for it. Carrying them both safely passed the hazard, he relaxed as the waters in front of the cave grew naturally calm, protected by those very rocks that made it so dangerous to navigate through.
The cave itself was a dark shadow against the cliff side, easily mistaken at first for a simple indent in the stone in the night's uncertain light. Hadama swam slowly towards it, towing Amanda a little ways behind him until they were close enough for the lapping of the small waves against the rocky interior to send cascading echoes back at them. "Do you have a light?" he questioned curiously. "It may be dangerous to go farther without one."
