Blood and Bark and howling Ghosts

"I'm making something for me and my fellow Ancients to use. It needs blood to work." Edmund explained vaguely, unsure if a child, even a creepy one, should know just what his plans were. And by his Mother was she weird! Offering her blood? Well at least that meant she likely wasn't a ghost.  The Ancient shook his head, "My Mother didn't ask me to get the blood of a normal person." Because how was he supposed to know she was a demigod? Edmund tried not to squirm at Trinket's display and busied himself with sealing the now full jar and putting it carefully in his bag. Once he was done, he turned back to the demigod with a pinched expression, "Um...why did you put blood on your face?" He wanted to ask about the scar, but he had more tact than that. That came from his mum. It was as the demigod was staring at him that it finally clicked. So focused on his task, he hadn't even considered what was poking deep in his mind.
