As the patron began to count their coins, the thief steered him hurriedly away. He went willingly along, chuckling to himself. If there was ever a way to scream suspicion, it was to run. He'd have to teach them a better distraction technique.
He leaned towards the thief, his eyes twinkling with good-natured roguishness. "Aye, just like I didn't take anything," he murmured with a wink, then flashed a piece of gold from between his fingers before tucking it away again. "Don't worry, love, your secret's safe with me. I'm George," he added, straightening and allowing his voice to rise to a normal level. "It's a pleasure..." He raised an eyebrow with a crooked grin, waiting expectantly for a name.
