Mateo's lips part as if to ask where Ever is going with his remark, before he fills in the blanks himself, and the botanist lets out a soft laugh and shakes his head. "You would be surprised how many things people will waste money on," he remarks, preferring not to mention that, of all those things, seeing he and Ever kiss probably isn't considered a waste.
"And you did it just fine - you just caught me off guard," he adds, and if he weren't still conditioned into knowing how to treat Everest from their years of friendship, he might have reached out for the aviator to pinch his cheek or muss his hair. Alas, he's left almost blushing down at the other man for his sweetness and sincerity, Mateo inhaling a deep, slow breath and letting it out again.
"Well when you put it like that, I would seem like a real bastard if I refused," he grumbles with a playful smile, before offering a gentle nod to his friend. "Alright. Come here."
It won't actually be necessary for Ever to move despite Mateo's final comment; the botanist leans in amid the lavender blooms and the afternoon sunlight, delivering a soft kiss on slow, gentle lips. Contrary to the messy, groping makeouts he often sees (and enjoys) in the alleyways of the Silk Houses, this kiss is an invitation, a prelude for more, followed with the gentle press of his hand against the aviator's side.
