Instead of intimidating the young Ancient, Maea's grin was met with an answering one as bloodlust surged through Edmund. Not the kind that would drive him to harm his new sister, but the kind that had him eager for battle. Her raised shield did block his next attempted jab, the corseque impacting with a loud 'thunk'. But Edmund had been practicing enough with his dodging that he was able to just barely twist and avoid the worst of her strike. The weapon grazed his side with enough that he might have a minor bruise later, but nothing bad enough to pause his momentum.
