Once upon a time...
Pale eyes glittered with a dawning intrigue and wonder the longer she looked around. Hadama's voice brought her attention back to him, and the answer was immediate on her tongue. "Sentient book" she mumbled, quietly so none but he could hear. "We've been sucked into a story."
Despite the admittedly unsettling feeling of otherness, Maea couldn't suppress her excitement. She had always wanted to experience this. None had ever appeared for her until now.
"I've heard that the only way out is to finish the tale... Do you know this one?" Between the king gazing expectantly down on her from his dais, the child in the crib and the dark splendor of Hadama's robes she had a good idea, but she wanted to make sure. If he did not... It would complicate matters.
They had but a moment before someone had to act.
