light is easy to love.
"Thank you," Ronin whispers, his throat growing tight around the words, both body and mind singing with relief and gratitude to feel his husband melt around him and for their points of view to slip seamlessly back into alignment. "I love you." Quietly said, Ronin glances up to meet Remi's eyes as the Bastion continues, and his smile has the audacity to even be a little crooked, a little more like himself, to hear the words.
"Yes, you will," he agrees, pressing his lips to the other man's forehead. "Because I'll be the one carrying you home every time, if I have anything to say about it. If your job now is to protect, the least I can do is to kill the thing you're protecting people against so it doesn't have a chance to take too much of a chunk out of you."
Even though I swear you're into that shit, he adds through the bond, chuckling.
About to suggest some actual responses to the letter they've received, Ronin will find himself unceremoniously interrupted - for the second time today - by a sudden and unnerving voice in his head. His entire body tenses around Remi; this isn't the first 'broadcast' they've received, but this one is no less ominous.
"What the fuck," he hisses. "The Greatwood is lost?"
