/// forgive me father, for i have sinned
and as i kneel here now,
and as i kneel here now,
He has been alive for centuries (even if the majority of it had been spent sleeping in stone, dreaming the years away like they were seconds ticking on a clock), but he likes to think he’s managed the perfect little balance between being an unassuming gentleman while also being partial to his upbringing – finding a place, which back then had advocated for it, that accepted his particular choices.
Then again, things were far more refined out and about Caido these days than it had been back then. At times, Astaroth finds himself missing the chaos of it. But, times change and people change, he supposes, given his newfound friendship with the Maverick in which Maea asks about and his dark gaze slips over toward her again as he inclines his head, a flicker of confusion sparking across his face.
“Of course he does. Danta has known me since I became an Ancient.” He knew about every choice he’d made. It’s why the Maverick had been so cautious letting him close and why Asta had zero qualms with quite literally trying to take a bite out of him. At least, until understanding settled in. And now, in this new day and age, the two of them have figured out how to navigate this new Caido. “Don’t worry, Maea, darling, I made a promise to him that I wouldn’t cause trouble.” It was more of a promise to keep things quiet, which he is doing a wonderful job at. People weren’t going missing, at least. “And I assure you, I am nothing if not a man of my word.” His hand lifts to press against his chest, trying to reassure her.

Astaroth
hands red with blood,
i know deep down, that i'll do it again ///
