It took her more than a little while to summon up the means and measures to wander back into the festivities. Her heart certainly wasn’t in it, and she avoided most eyes following her, the thrall of whispers thereafter, and the muted glances. She had things to do, words to say, and she wasn’t going to let the tournament cease without taking the time to extend her gratitude.
I could see some of them she might’ve said, as she wandered closer to the taller man in the midst of all the talking and gossip and gawking. Fringes of the dead, as if she’d been close enough to see what happened after they perished. But Ronin would know too – wouldn’t he?
She made no mention of any of those things as she approached, waiting until he was done with conversing with someone else. Sidling nearby, and entirely subdued, she glanced upwards, filling her lungs with a sharp inhale of air, before proceeding. “Hey Ronin, I just wanted to say thank you. Sorry about the whole…mess.”
