Hunching down in the snow before Thalassa, as the woman leaned against the tomb, the pale-skinned woman reached out a hand to touch the young ancient's dark hair. She fully expected her hand to be slapped aside, or for the girl to pull away, or possibly even run - but she reached out anyway.
"It's their loss, though, isn't it? If they can't see your value and won't stop to look at you twice, then it's not as though you need them anyway. Don't beg. Don't drag anyone down. But don't blind yourself to those who really do try to help either, hey? You asked me to come here. Am I not right here, listening to you right now? Will you be just like them, and fail to listen to what I am saying?"

Whether she wanted a real conversation, or simply keep pushing her expectations onto someone else instead of dealing with her actual problems. Are you upset because I didn't appreciate the insults to myself or my family that you flung at me? That's not being tortured by your presence, love, that's just me drawing some boundaries on what I will tolerate from the people around me.
