Curiosity compelled, but Lena’s nobler, politer upbringing ensured that none of the inquiries brimming in her mind were asked, nor her inquiring endeavors embarked upon. More than once she had to steer Mittens away from potentially floating along masts and threads; keeping a tight leash upon the companion as it grumbled and flicked the bauble around, hitting it with its nose. “This is a nice ship,” she remarked quietly; having not seen or experienced many – save for the skyships, and nowadays sometimes she merely liked to fly on her own.
When the woman reappeared with the drink, the Caretaker gave her a restless but dignified smile, settling upon a barrel. “Thank you.” She hadn’t had anything alcoholic in quite some time, but based on how the days had been going lately, it wouldn’t hurt to soften the deafening blows. “Do you live here, in the Grounds?”
