His feathers unruffle at least, however briefly, at her apology, and he might have commented that she was better off leading with it, until it feels altogether redundant.

"I'm terribly sorry, I wasn't aware that this was my fault." He straightens up from the desk. "How foolish of me. Let me make it easy, then. Don't you ever put us in danger like that again. And I don't mean us in the greater good sense. I mean you, and I mean me. There is nothing you can do for anyone dead - and if you're selfish enough to lose your temper and put lives at risk, be selfish enough to save your own hide."
