It’s a fyrhund that follows behind Dantalion at a distance. He’s his shadow, obviously, so it makes sense (timelines what??). Anyway, he isn’t stalking so much as he is drifting along and ensuring that the Maverick doesn’t get into trouble. He is security, isn’t he? Maybe a bit more personal these days than the establishment, but still. He follows to ensure danger doesn’t encroach. And as it turns out? Wrong place wrong fucking time.
No sooner does Astaroth notice the Maverick still and climb up the tree, does Astaroth spot what huge mass starts to roll through the undergrowth. And it’s a huge what the fuck moment for the butcher as the fyrhund tries to ensure that he's out of the fucking way, smoke pouring from his maw as he breathes out a stream of fire the second it gets close.
Astaroth arrives in his fyrhund shift and breathes fire at the creature should it start to roll past him!
He only has a knife with him.
