to share the space with simple living things, infinitely suffering
Aware only of the laboured sound of their breathing and the hot press of his body against her back, Isla feels as though she might let herself drift like this endlessly, if only time would allow it. Eventually, of course, feeling returns in full - the feel of the cushions beneath her knees, the phantom sensations of his fingers against her hips, the sweetness of his lips against her shoulder.
At his question she can't help but let out a soft, husky sort of laugh, tilting her head to rest against his own for a second. "I can't believe you need to ask," she admits, though for his benefit she does turn to press a warm kiss against his temple. "It was so good, I think the rest of the Dusklight heard it, and I want them to know it was you," she whispers wickedly to him, leaving another kiss in her wake before relaxing further back against him.
"Would you mind helping me to the bed, please? You seem to have robbed me of my ability to walk." And she's eyeing the wine she hasn't had a chance to really taste yet too, while they're at it.
