Oh, hello cute boy.
It’s an inappropriate time to think it, but it distracts Jude from searching the tree behind him for snow moss to attach to his arrow. He isn’t sure if the cold of it would be strong enough to harm in any way, but he’s at as much of a loss as Mateo right now (like the sad leeches they are).
Already reaching for the rope, Jude nods firmly to hide the nerves. “Probably better than shooting the rope into it, I don’t think any of us are strong enough to haul it around,” he tries to joke with a thin, frantic tone. His dad had once helped redirect a giant chicken into a different area without killing it, what are the odds they’ll get that lucky today?
Knotting the rope just behind the arrowhead, Jude takes aim at a tree across the way and lets it fly. They’ll have to grab the other end, but he assumes that’s safer than misjudging the distance and snapping the rope before it can be of any use. In good news, this is definitely the least embarrassing he’s ever been in the company of a cute stranger. Now hopefully they both don’t die!
