Evie’s grin softens, and her newly empty hands come to rub idly at Erebos’ back. “Not recently, but I’ll never tire of hearing it.” Not only for the way it inspires emotion in her chest to see him so deservedly happy, but for the way it resonates with her own gratitude at a perfect frequency. The table isn’t very wide, so she extends one socked foot to brush against his leg as some measure of physical connection. “I’m grateful for all of it. You, our family, our people…the Grounds was eye-opening to say the least.” Only serving to reinforce her fierce appreciation for the way their personal and professional lives have played out. For a moment her jaw stiffens and her hands come away from Erebos to lay flat against the tabletop, the spaces around her nail beds tellingly ivory. “And?” She says no more. There is nothing she can think to say that hasn’t already been stuffed down in previous days, reluctant to voice what she knows is only based on emotion. Not that it makes those claims and decisions any less valid, but Evie has learned patience through grit and determination alone. It’s not a virtue she’ll sacrifice lightly.
Sniffing the equivalent of a laugh, she picks up the measuring spoon and twirls it idly in her fingers. “I certainly will. I’m thinking of making his blend spicier, instead of herbal.” Perhaps presumptuous given it’s based on his race alone, but Evie feels optimistic about it.
