Luka
I know there are angels singing somewhere
I hope they sing for us
Luka is minding his own business (as he always does) when the sound of glass shattering has him straightening in the half-second before a body heavily collides into his own from behind. Catching himself awkwardly on his elbows to avoid breaking his face on the bar top, Luka grunts and throws an elbow backward to shove the body off. I hope they sing for us
A garbled yell of pain informs him quite succinctly that his elbow may have hit something more valuable than lovehandles.
“Ah, fuck,” he mutters to himself, sparing a mournful expression for his unfinished drink as he stands. Inebriated Bastard (IB) is grappling a defenseless empty stool to try and stabilize himself while spitting up a colorful storm - and some saliva to boot - when Luka turns to face him.
Oh, and there’s the last puzzle piece - there’s a red-faced woman breathing hard and watching both Luka and IB warily. “He a creep?” Luka’s low voice cuts through IB’s cursing like a splitting maul, pointing blatantly. The woman nods, silent and distrusting (ah, Torchers). Luka simply nods and gracelessly shoves his sleeves up; there’s no need for intimidation or atmosphere with what he’s about to do.
Which is throw a haymaker of a left hook that cracks into IB’s face and sends him straight to the floor, taking the stool with him. “HEY WHAT THE FUCK -!” Ah, so IB has friends? Well, shit. Luka gets tackled up against the bar by WM (wingman, if you’re following) and grunts as the edge slams into his waist. Then everything goes out the window as he wraps his arms around the other man in a grapple and begins kneeing the shit out of the dude’s conveniently accessible ribcage.
“FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!” Multiple voices join the chant, drowning out the bartender’s protestations immediately.
Gods damn it, Luka’s dad is going to find a way to ground him as a grown man for this…but maybe that pretty girl will kiss him on the cheek if he doesn’t get his shit rocked in this 2v1?
For our bruised mouths are an act of resistance
and our singing hearts, together, make a beautiful prayer
