Ignorant of the battle waging elsewhere, Everest's mind was locked solely within the jaws of the predatory body he inhabited. He could feel little else save for the the lifeblood of the wolf as it drained into the snow even as the creature still snapped and shook in his jaws. Even now, knowing that it was over, still it tried to fight.
Perhaps there was a lesson in that.
Alas.
With a low growl he turned away, dragging his kill with him. What befell the ancient and the slow-moving void tumbleweeds was none of his concern. All the feline wanted to do was find a large enough tree for him to climb whereupon he could comfortably dine on the meat of his kill while it was still warm.
