He watched impassively as the leather was sliced away and discarded. It had served its purpose until it was no longer needed, and now it would likely burn in the Climb's heat, devoured by the unpredictable shifting of the crust. But that was the simplest task in the deconstruction of the daggers, and he returned his gaze to Thal's face as she made her decision on the knives and their fate. The lava would destroy them if given enough time. But all they really needed was for the weld itself to be weakened at the place the bolster joined the tang.
"Hmm." He rumbled in thought as he considered the problem and her request, but then he gave a slow shake of his head. "In Torchline, yes. Not here." He did not, unfortunately, normally carry his forging tools with him, given how little time he had to work with them in such troubled times. "...But you do not need them. Do you need to melt them down entirely?" He tilted his head at her curiously. "Or just to separate the bolsters from the blades?"
