Letting his fingers fit around hers, Remi smoothed his thumb softly over her knuckles. He could feel the violet tide of her emotions as it shifted and sloshed unsteadily in her mind; a sea which had grown swollen from a sense of justice and duty, and now sought any cracks through which to escape. And if it found none? It would make them. He could feel the shaky curtains of her faith and resolve, once columns that now crumbled and swayed like silk over an already bloodied battlefield.
Maea's specific phrasing had Remi laughing humourlessly under his breath as he smiled warmly at her. Just the day before he'd told Ronin that he couldn't fault him for the things the Knight felt, however much they'd hurt the Bastion and however much he wished they weren't so.
