The mental messages that had emerged since Starfall had been horrible. They were invasive, mocking, and far too cheery. Kaiden hated them, and more so, they hated how their prey had changed alongside them. Before now, the mershark hadn't known just where to direct that anger. Now they did, and they also had a lead on a possible solution.
Swimming along the coast until they saw a group of people, Kaiden peeked their head out of the water. Most of them looked normal but one was just plain wrong. Wrong, like how all of the purple plants and animals were. This one must be Vox.
The mershark lifted their chin and glared distinctly above the abomination's shoulder. They'd prefer to glare Vox in the eye, but they couldn't find it, and the few times they thought they had, their head hurt over how many there were. "Do you have something on that table that will let me eat all of the food that you keep infecting without getting sick? I don't like it when my dinner turns purple and becomes toxic." Food was survival. If all of the food was going to turn into purple poisons, surely this weird creature had a solution. Not that Kaiden trusted them.
