The courier's pale eyes were almost pathetically grateful as he managed to raise them long enough to meet her gaze for a second before he ducked his head back down again shyly, just as awkward as Thalassa when it came to social interactions. "Yeah... thanks. They don't seem t'help much if what I'm seein' is inside my own head though," he admitted reluctantly, hating to reveal the weakness of his oldest item. Still, he carefully rubbed the lenses clean and pulled the Goggles back into place. He used some of his water to rinse his face mask thoroughly before putting it back on, too, and this time he made sure to tie it securely.
He groped over to catch Thalassa's arm, giving it a silent squeeze without saying something either of them might find too uncomfortable and awkward to deal with. But the Captain was already getting back to business and Tal nodded at her suggestion. "If you've found somethin' we can all check out t'gether, we might as well," he agreed. "Huh. If it's a crystal, maybe th' demigods can use it for somethin'." It was worth a shot, at any rate, and he gestured at Thal to lead the way.
Luckily the captain had marked her path and she was able to find it again immediately, but as they moved through the jungle foliage - more carefully this time - a sense of creeping dread began to grow around them. It was a sense that going forward would be a mistake, and a fatal one.
Still, after only a few minutes of walking they would be able to spy the flash of purple again between broad green leaves and behind the reds and yellows of poisonous flowers between them and it. The quiet burble of water underlay the raucous bird and animal calls around them, but several shadowy insects began to flit around the edges of their vision.
Phew! Now they can finally investigate that flash of purple that Thalassa found!
